Hi Larry, Nattokinase is an excellent blood adaptogen....an enzyme from fermented tofu and just discovered in l984, it has been shown to be very effective in correcting the viscosity and stickiness problems in blood flow. There is a lot of info on the 'net on it; you will find it in 1500 - 2000 FUs (fibrin units), do a bolus bottle and then settle down to 2 - 4/day, depending on how lab changes occur. ('Bolus bottle' is one bottle consumed at higher, initiating rates than maintenance rates: x - x tabs/caps/day (ie: 8 - 10 caps/day) through one bottle or a half a bottle or what works for the patient.) If the person is already on coumadin, there is a version made 'without vitamin K'. Liquid minerals with added calcium would be a good idea with this person as well ..... at her age there may be a valvular deficiency but I'd adjust her hiatal hernia anyway. Bromelain is an excellent blood thinner and has other anti-inflammatory properties.  You should not use it with any other blood thinners or if you have history of ulcer. We have used this for over twenty years.

Classified as an herb, bromelain is a sulfur-containing

proteolytic digestive enzyme that is extracted from the stem and the fruit of

the pineapple plant ( Ananas comosus , family Bromeliaceae) .

When taken with meals, bromelain is believed to assist in

the digestion of proteins. When taken on an empty stomach, it is believed to act

medicinally as an anti-inflammatory agent.

The expert panel, the German Commission E, approved

bromelain for the treatment of swelling/inflammation of the nose and sinuses

caused by injuries and surgery in 1993. Newport Avenue Chiropractic
