Guest guest
There is a cure for everything especially if we anchor ourselves with faith. The brain is our miracle organ, and I think what it can't fix, it will find a way to work around. I will be taking for neuropsych testing in late May. The testing will document specific deficits, and from there we might be able to figure out how to work around problems with language and memory. May seems so far away, but as soon as I find out anything, I will certainly share the info. We can have little brain rehab training sessions of our own right here! :-) > > > temporal lobes of the brain > Is there a cure for this ? > > I think this part of my brain is gone too.... Guest guest
, You may already know this, but gotu kola is excellent for healing the brain. It is an ayurvedic herb that has been used for centuries for this. I have used it to great effect-- I had all the cognitive issues that are so common with implant illness, and in that area I am 90% better now. My short term memory is so much better, ditto my ability to concentrate and articulate. It could be a coincidence, but I noticed an improvement soon after starting the gotu kola. I buy the powdered herb and cap it myself and take 2 caps 3x day. You can find high quality bulk herbs at www.mountainroseherbs.com . Guest guest
, You are a such a good Mom and have been so strong and purposeful for . I am glad she is doing better. I am also just so sad that she has had to go thru all of this. There is a lady up north who has done wonderful research and testing on the brain and has an innovative program for " brain retraining " . I have a friend who lives in Minnesota that takes her son to her. Here is the link for anyone that may need it. I have spoken with Drs. Fishers right hand person and Dr. Fisher has communicated with me via email before (for another teenager). She is willing to review the testing you might have performed and offer an opinion should you want to have a second opinion or anything. http://www.drbarbarafisher.com/ > > > > > > temporal lobes of the brain > > Is there a cure for this ? > > > > I think this part of my brain is gone too.... Guest guest
Bindi, I am in awe of you guys that do this stuff yourselves. I have to admit, it truly intimidates me a bit. Guest guest
Bindi, Thanks for this...I have some gotu kola powder in my pantry, and I totally forgot about it. In fact, I never opened it! (I have stuff I meant to try and never did!) I wonder how long it lasts? Do you know? I may start taking this, making my own caps and see what happens. How long did it take for you to notice the effects--you said soon, so like a few weeks? Guest guest
I noticed effects within a few weeks. I think it's important that it be fresh, but if it has been sealed and its not too old, it's probably still good. Does it still smell strong? There are some good studies on gotu kola. It is also good for a number of other things besides brain function-- connective tissue diseases, varicose veins, scleroderma, high blood pressure. It can make you sleepy, so I take it before bed. I've read that one should take it for six weeks, then take a two week break. Guest guest
Dear , I just read your post and an alarm went off. I just felt the need to tell you how I feel and how it is known that methodone can be lethal. You are saying your doctor has prescribed that along with percocet? I find that unbelievable. Not that I don't believe you but I think that is horrendous. It has recently been in the news, not just because of and her son's death from a combination of methadone and other drugs but people taking the prescribed dosage of methadone have also died. It is also extremely addictive. If I sound like an arlamist I am when it comes to methodone. You can disregard my post but I felt an urgency to warn you. I am wondering why the need for the methodone? Have you thoroughly looked into the drug interactions for the drugs you are taking? If not I think you should. I hope you aren't just taking his word and not looking for yourself. Please take a look. I wrote this out of concern. I have known people taking what the doctor ordered and not looking into the drug and it's interactions. It can be dangerous and bad for your health. Take care, Barbara <bigred84022@...> wrote: Well I saw a pain management doctor for the first time yesterday. The appointment went great. Outside of all the pain he inflicted by checking everything out, he was very informative and spent lots of time with us. He determined that there is significant weakness in my left leg. The muscles in both legs are tight and he said the right leg is tight cuz I have been favoring my left leg. Did not know this. Its all nerve issues in my left leg. He said my entire back is a mess but for right now we are gonna focus on the leg and lower back area. He took me off Ambien and Xanax and put me on Restoril to help me sleep. Took me off the oxy and lortab and put me methadone and percocet. He said the first week on the methadone will be rough. It will take 48 hours for the methadone to get built up in my body making today and tomorrow the worst of the week. Lucky me lol. He ordered a specific set of PT stuff for me to start next week. Gotta go to PT twice a week and do my PT exercises 3 times a day. At PT I will be getting myofacial on my neck and shoulders to help loosen up the muscles which her believes is part of what is causing my chronic heaaches. I can't remember what else will be done at PT but I can fill everyone in after mondays PT session. I am scheduled for an epidural on the 21st and if I reciev any relief from it we will do another one. We also talked about doing radiofrequency on the nerves in my leg and lower back at S1/L5. First he will do a nerve block to see how receptive I am to it. I see him again on March 21st for the epidural and then again on the 22nd for a follow up. Please if you pray keep me in your prays this week as it is gonna be a very difficult week for me and I am not looking forward to it. I do read I just don't post. Takes too much to do it lol. So look for an update on the 22nd or around their. Hope everyone is having a pain free day and has a great weekend. in Utah
Guest guest
Is methadone often prescribed for pain? I know someone else whose dr put them on methadone – not for pain but because of the large doses of oxy and percocet they were taking – I guess to get them off it? But also prescribed a pain patch for the pain – if this week will be difficult for you, cant they give you something to tide over? Is the methadone supposed to be effective for pain? I thought it was what they gave you when you were addicted? JP Re: Update on Dear , I just read your post and an alarm went off. Guest guest
very sad !!! what grade did you say your son is in? I've been following your post but can't seem to remember his grade. Doesn't matter, being bullied is awful no matter what grade your in. Right now, you said you don't have an advocate, do you have any support? have you called ARC, autism support groups, an autism resource place, any place that someone can help/support you? have you heard of "parent to parent" they are in every state, I think they have a 1 800 number, they can help out too. Maybe others on this site can offer advice on who you can call to get an advocate to support you. sherry burford <superchick0770@...> wrote: I know , right? anyway i just let her say what she felt she needed to say idid document everything and retracked and documented dates and incidents i can remember, so it is all down on paper. but i really am shocked she waited until now to discuss anything w/ me this school knows i am involved w/ my children and so there was no excuse for her not getting in touch w/ me before now, i have spoken with her on several occassions and she has not said anything to this affect before so who knows, until there is someone there w/ my son for my son who sees and hears i am not confident i'll know the truth about what is or has been going on isn' that sad? Maybe others on this site can offer advice on who you can call to get an advocate to support you. sherry burford <superchick0770 > wrote: I know , right? anyway i just let her say what she felt she needed to say idid document everything and retracked and documented dates and incidents i can remember, so it is all down on paper. but i really am shocked she waited until now to discuss anything w/ me this school knows i am involved w/ my children and so there was no excuse for her not getting in touch w/ me before now, i have spoken with her on several occassions and she has not said anything to this affect before so who knows, until there is someone there w/ my son for my son who sees and hears i am not confident i'll know the truth about what is or has been going on isn' that sad? Guest guest
ROFL. This is funny that she can't talk to you about an aide but then goes on to say he needs one. Right there is prime documentation that you have to get down on paper! Write a follow up note, "Thanks Mrs. H for talking to me about the problems is having in your class on the phone yesterday. I understand you do not feel (child) would trip but in looking at his injury, the doctor and we all feel he had to have been pushed to sustain this much damage. I understand you do not think it was too much trouble for him to finish his work before going to the bathroom but will need to be allowed to go to the bathroom the minute he says he has to go. His ability to recognize the need to go is not well developed yet and he will be able to focus on his classwork if he isn't thinking about how much he has to use the bathroom. From our discussion, you said he is having the following problems in class: (List all the problems she said he has.) Thank you for letting me know what is happening for him at school. I understand that you want to know if his wrap around program will give him an aide at school but as I explained, they only do that when...(reason). It is clear that he does need some help with behaviors at school. Thank you very much.....name/address/phone/email This documents the discussion and also notes that she says he needs an aide without pinning it on her head. If you say, "YOU said he needs an aide!" she will deny that because it will get her in trouble. SOmetimes it is easier to note she asked about getting one from wrap around services. This does show she feels he needs one and then will help you advocate to get one in your meetings with the school. So document this and send it in!! RoxannaAutism Happens ( ) update on I took him to the dr today she is very upset says his ear looks like some one may have pushed him, to call the principal and tell him she would like to know what happened and why as she is very concerned about this, that this does not look like an injury sustained in just a trip and fall incident. so i called school he didn't even know what happened or at least so he claims, well any way the teacher called and said he was running and she only seen him trip and fall so i told her what the dr says, but she still insists this other child wouldnot do that, so anyway the incident where he peed she said he only had to finish two problems or questions whatever and she would let him go she said IHO that he would not have made it anyway as he peed in his pants right after she told him he had to finish what he was doing. Guest guest
Sherry I'm so glad that you took to the doctor. From your description, I really think there is more to the story about what happened in the classroom. I'm glad the doctor voices her concerns, too. I'm not surprised at all that the school is backpedalling now and trying to cover their butts. You've got them in a good position. Hold your ground! You said is normally quiet in school and that you noticed the marks dropping about a month ago... to me that looks like there is something else going on. Is the teacher inexperienced? It sounds like she's having a hard time handling the class in general and that's perhaps why she's pressuring you about trying to get an assistant in the classroom for . Guest guest
Mims, and with that said (your post) did you notice, time is still continuing, the school year almost over, and the problem (what ever it is) is still there? are they(school staff) waiting til this school year ends hoping all this will 'fix' itself or be forgotten?.. I hate when they do that. lets just pass this child ' as is ' onto the next grade, and let someone else (school staff) worry about him... I hope Sherry and her son gets the help and support he needs now, so he won't have to suffer with this harassment again - the next year. (and what are they doing about his grades falling)? From reading all Sherrys post, I know she will stay strong and continue to fight for her son's safety before the school year ends. also, have a good program, IEP, and anything else needed for him to have a good year in September...right from day 1.... Guest guest
Mims thanks, as far as i know the teacher has been teaching for at least 20 yrs, so i don't know what the problem is as far as her, i do know that his class has quite a few bullies in there, and this is including some girls, my son describes his class as very disruptive, but i am not sure, his behavior specialist has requested the school allow her to observe for a few days to see what is going on, so i guess we will see, i was speaking to another parent on Sat. she said our whole 3 grade is just full of bullies, her son is in the other class, and they have quite a few in there, it is just something else. I did tell the principal that i won't tolerate it any longer, and that things have got to change b/c i shouldn't have to worry this much about my son going to school, and that i am very upset about all of this, u know i made these picture cards/ afternoon routine checklist for him at school, i asked to have it taped on his desk somewhere so when it is time for him to get ready to go home he won't forget the things he needs to bring, well he told me she had him put it in his homework folder, which he forgets all the time, i said josh how is that gonna help u he says i don't know mommy, his TSS said "Sherry it isn't " i am just furious, i gave them something to try and help him and they won't even help to put in place, we are supposed to be a team but i feel as if i am the only one trying, Oh i am just so d*^ & * pissed, and the more i think about it all the crap they have been pulling the angrier i get.SherryMims Batts <mimsnj@...> wrote: Sherry I'm so glad that you took to the doctor. Guest guest
Good Mornign Rose, Thanks u for the very sweet post, I found out recently that our school will be shut down next yr for remodling so the thought u had may very well be what they were trying to do but by golly i ain't about to let my son go the next three + months going thru what he has already had to endure, they just better think again, and i know that all of them there now know how i feel and i ain't backing down and i ain't keeping quite, other parents seen his ear and were totally shocked that 1 it happened in school 2 at the school's response to it, oh yeah this momma has a large mouth and when i get upset i have trouble keeping it shut, which in some cases is good but i have gotten myself in trouble with it too.LOL I 'll update when i hear about the testing and things, i am telling u i am just not pleased that they still haven't tested him it has been a yr since i went to them and explained the dx they just kind of closed their eyes on him i think, if he had been a major problem as far as behavior they may have wanted to test but he is quiet , kind hides in side himself u know, people tend to forget he is around b/c he does this, it is terrible but i am heading down the right path i think now. thanks to all u for caring so much and for standing behind me even if online, it feels great!!!SherryRose <beachbodytan2002@...> wrote: Mims, and with that said (your post) did you notice, time is still continuing, the school year almost over, and the problem (what ever it is) is still there? are they(school staff) waiting til this school year ends hoping all this will 'fix' itself or be forgotten?.. Guest guest
Thanks Roxanna I will do just that, and i have started documenting everything, i don't know why i didn't think of documenting it sooner but thanks again.SherryRoxanna <madideas@...> wrote: ROFL. Guest guest
You guys won't believe this stupid phone call i just got, this school district stinks!!!!! the superintendent calls and basically told me i need to address these issues with the prinicpal, i explained i have done this and am not satisfied, he said well u need to address it with ur school, b/c i am not aware of the bullying issue u are describing, but the other issue w/ josh falling is being addressed . This is ridiculous and when they find out i am filing a formal complaint with the district and the department of education ohhhhh they will definitely know. I have a question though, the incident w/ the teacher is that considered like a hinderance to joshua learning, do u guys think? i just need help especially when i have to file the formal complaints.
