Guest guest
I have just started your group and have a lot of questions. I have been sprouting for the last month, and have been into green shakes for the last year. I just started with the wheatgrass juice and overjuiced for one drink. Can you freeze the rest, and is it as nutritious. I have read that you are supposed to regrow you seed after two cuttings because it then gets bitter. Well, I believe the first two cuttings are sickening sweet. I think bitter would be a little better to drink. But is any cutting after the 2nd as nutritious? And when do you lose weight?????? Guest guest
yes you can freeze grass juice in old style ice cube trays. After they freeze hard pop them out and put them in an air tight freezer bag.Any processing takes away nutrition along with the passing of time and exsposier.I never use a second cutting myself the grass is usually played out after the first cutting. The grass mat gets root bound and starts to sour and things tend to get nasty.I can relate to the sickening sweet taste of wheat and thats why I grow barley grass instead of wheat.I have some pictures of my barley grass at the forum site which can be accessed via the photo link at the bottom of this page.Jeff. ________________________________ > > From: vbnc19a@... > Date: Thu, 30 Oct 2008 22:06:32 +0000 > Subject: wheatgrass juice > > > I have just started your group and have a lot of questions. Guest guest
it's always nice to keep a couple weeks worth frozen, in case a crop doesn't work out for some reason, or when you come back from vacation or something, waiting for fresh to grow. i vacuum seal mine, tastes just like fresh.. Guest guest
Sounds like you need to begin a little slower.... try doing less for starters and water it down a bit for this beginning... a half an ounce with apple juice or a little water and maybe some lemon and then do a half an ounce twice a day... work your way up... look into making your own milk kefir or kombucha... good luck > > Hi, > I just joint this list. > Yesterday I received my first order from the to grow my own > wheatgrass. > I have a small crop going right now and made my first juice today. > My husband has been very ill since the beginning of April and was diagnosed > with Crohn's disease. Guest guest
You do have to start out slow, particularly if your in a compromised state of health. You mentioned immune suppressants, so you should be very careful when taking in raw foods/ drinks and be sure they are well washed, as your immune system is compromised. I would make sure you grow with as sterile a medium as possible- such as peat, perlite-or even better Sure to Grow soilless medium. I have recently been having great success growing wheat grass on the sterile Sure To Grow pads, and watering with an Ocean Solution, kelp, citricide combination. Most definitely do not use manure - too many potential dangerous microbes. Again-start out slow-maybe one or two ounces daily initially. The recommendation to mix w/ a little lemon is a good one. Perhaps some more palatable powdered wheat grass juice such as Green Magma might be a better starting point. Guest guest
While I have been drinking wheatgrass juice for awhile, I still find it revolting in taste. After I drink a shot of it I immediately follow up with a few sips of another juice. Mixing it in apple juice makes it go down easy and makes me less nauseous when I have it. Occasionally, even the smell of the pulp will bother me.the Green Magma recommends is a very good product. Barley grass is also good to juice and sometimes I grow a combination of wheat and barley to juice. marion

Guest guest
,I am going to try your wheatgrass martini. My husband will be amused (he occasionally drinks the real thing). I might just garnish it and have it in a martini glass! n M
