People over -state the role of antioxidants! Neutralizing free radicals is minor issue after diseases have occurred in a patient. Free radical scavengers are great preventative but does not explain all the benefits unitil you realize and you understand basic highschool acid/base chemistry.

Typical A.O. reaction is written,.... C-OH + O --> C=0 + OH or

C-OH + OH --> C=0 + H20

In the end what you have left after anti oxidant reaction is double bonded oxygen, except for quinones and carboxyl groups where the oxygen bond is even weaker, making pro oxidant activity more active than in double bonded cousins.

To test this you can cross reference these compounds with hemolytic anemia! H. anemia is caused by peroxide buildup and if your body is deficient in catylase enzymes, peroxide will destroy red blood cells.

This means and basically proves that anti oxidants are short-lived in this role, then become longer-lived oxygen pumps, donating and picking up oxygen based upon standard fluid gas dynamics and no longer donating hydrogen.

If you increase oxygen in your blood stream you will improve any anaerobic condition, speed up healing, (anti inflamatory) and improve cognition of course.

Here are the main anti oxidants found in olive leaf,....what happens to all these oxygen molecules that remain after hydrogen is donated to a free radical? Hemolytic anemia and peroxide formation answers this riddle completely. Oxygen then splits off and this causes improved cell function,..reacts with water, O + H20 --> H202.

The result is similar to other phenolic compounds, as they all have anti cancer, anti fungal, anti inflamatory, anti viral actions.
