I'm going to guess that it has very pretty purple flowers and spreads by underground runners. Again, vigilance will get rid of it if you pull it/dig it up. Be cautioned, though, that some buttercups (including that variety) can have somewhat toxic fluids within them. Not toxic in that it will make you sick but caustic and can cause a rash or chemical burns.
