Guest guest
Cauliflower Did you know that along with its wealth of vitamins and minerals, cauliflower, like the other cruciferous vegetables, contains powerful sulfur compounds that have repeatedly been found to help prevent cancer? Since 1993, the National Cancer Institute has been demonstrating that prevention, rather than cure, is the way to decrease deaths related to cancer. And they have found the way to prevention is eating the proper foods! Research on the prevention of cancer, as well as diabetes, heart disease, and obesity, all points strongly to the food we eat as a key factor that has the potential to cut back dramatically on the rates of these chronic diseases. And some of the best foods for disease prevention are the sulfur-containing cruciferous vegetables, such as cauliflower. These vegetables contain compounds, including sulforaphane and isothyiocyanates, which help the liver to neutralize potentially harmful cancer-causing compounds and to suppress tumor cell growth and the movement of cancer to other parts of the body (metastasis). Guest guest
No drugs and no chemo. My daughter was born with a goiter. Cruciferous vegetables aggrevate the thyroid. Shari
Guest guest
No treatment, what for? There's nothing wrong with her. She gets b12 shots for low energy every so often and she knows what to eat and what not to eat. This is a 25 year old woman who has never had an antibiotic, a vaccination, and does not see a medical doctor. Her brother is 27 and he only got the first 1.5 years of shots and after that, well we won't go into how I got them into public schools without poisoning them. Guest guest
The stalk (core) of cauliflower is my favorite part! I slice it thinly, and barely steam it, then I add the slices to my BOWL of soup, then pour the Vitamixed soup over them-I like the texture of the stalk-best part, if you ask me! > > I just cut a head of cauliflower up. Guest guest
Tell me again what you put in your Cauliflower soup? Well, besides Cauliflower of course. LOL Don't need a recipe, but ideas on ingredients would be good. I usually use chicken broth with broccoli and sometimes sauteed onion and garlic, along with cheese. Guest guest
Same is true of the stalk on broccoli. You can put the whole thing in the VM, or if you are cooking/steaming it, peel the tougher outer layer of the stalk and slice up the rest. Guest guest
I do that too. The stalk of broccoli is great in soup (after peeling touch parts off and steaming). Guest guest
My cauliflower soup is very simple-I just steam up a couple of heads of cauliflower in my steamer until they are JUST tender-you can steam or boil them in chicken or veggie stock, if desitre-I do with just plain water.I then put them in mason jars to store in the fridge or freezer so I always have it on hand. I throw a couple of cups of the steamed cauli in the Vitmix, a handful of shredded homemade cheddar cheese, and a pinch of salt-I add JUST enough of the steaming liquid (or broth) to start the mix twirling well-I usually start out on #4 and ramp it up until it starts to get blended, then I flip it to high and leave it get all hot and steamy. With less liquid, the soup is nice and thick without anything added to it. Of course you can add herbs (rosemary is lovely in it), red pepper, or other seasonings, but I like it nice and simple. I have a bowl of cauli soup EVERY single day-have for years. My daughter and I have it like most people have a cup of coffee, lol. > >> I just cut a head of cauliflower up. Guest guest
I was amazed at how creamy the cauliflower was when blended. I added some cheese and a clove of garlic, poured it over some pasta and bam! Instant Mac & cheese that my kids devoured. Really loving my new Vitamix and have been reading everything I can get my hands on! Thanks to all of you who post such great info and resources!-janel
