Katy told me about this group because I was whinning to her about all, or most, of my bodily non functionings. For a bit of history, I quit smoking 8 1/2 years ago and piled the lbs on in a heartbeat. I know, wrong choices in food and not enough exercise, but here I am, still craving the same wrong junk (mostly sugar and carbs), and I'm a butter ball and I'm not talking tasty turkey. 60 lbs over weight and I have trouble breathing. I have 2 different inhales for the breathing. I'm tired, and when I eat sugar I get really sleepy but I'm able to fight it until the feeling goes away. I have arthritis in my back, hips, knees, and ankles. I was a competitive roller skater in my younger years and spent some time on my fanny learning new dance steps. Falls and injuries, I'm told, can cause arthritis flare ups in later years. Well, here I am, in those later years, and hurting like I had been beat to a pulp. I believe with all my heart that getting rid of the extra weight would take care of a lot of my problems. I'm only 65 and way to young to feel this old so, I'm asking for help. I feel that I'm in a catch 22 situation because walking would help to get rid of this blubber and to do that, I have to not hurt so bad in my back, knees, hips and ankles. I have a garden so I don't lack for fresh veggies and I enjoy them very much. I'm not much for fried foods. Well, am I a hopless case or can anyone here help? Wanna try? Guest guest
Welcome . you will learn alot here. You are going to have to retrain yourself. If you crave sugar.. go to fruits, kiwi, peaches, etc. Walking some every day and increasing it every week would be beneficial. Stay away from soda.... Do you eat any raw?? better for you. How's your water intake? A mixture of honey and acv in water is good everyday for arthritis - MSM is also good. I understand the skating.. (Ice skating myself)..and yes it will affect you some in later years.. so work on it now. You are only hopeless if you chose to be. Start walking 15 minutes a day for a week (or less if need be).. the next week increase it by 5 minutes (or 10)... each week increase... if the increase is really hard.. do an extra week at the same... but keep going till you can walk 30 to 60 minutes... even if you break it up into morning and evening. Guest guest
Hi Suzi, Many years ago, and I do mean many, I weighed 220 lbs and walked it all of to the music of MC Hammer, oh yes I did. I was still smoking at that time and I lived near Panama City Beach and worked there so I had lots of walking places that were flat. Here, I have hills everywhere as I live in the foothills near the mountains in TN. Ok, now I'm whining and making excuses. Shucks, I just need to get out there and walk my hilly driveway and drag my fat little dog with me. We both need to make some changes. I do eat raw fruits but if the veggies are raw, I usually can't chew them. Need new choppers. I don't drink many sodas and my water drinking could be better but it's not bad (about 4 glasses a day), hey, it's better than nothing. What the ratio for the honey, acv and water? About the skating, it's too late to start working on it now. That was back in the '50's and early '60's and I'm 65 now. Damage is done. I certainly don't choose to be hopeless. If I did, I wouldn't ask for answers, I would just sit around feeling sorry for me and that's not going to happen. I just feel helpless some times. I'm really a very positive person more often than not. Thanks for the suggestions. Your email address looks soooo familiar. Did you ever belong to my pets gardening group? Guest guest
There is also a devise if your real lazy you can buy. Its a pedal machine. You just sit down in your favorite easy chair and start pedaling. Works great for the elderly and lazy people. Guest guest
Green, black, and jasmine teas are the way to go. With honey only. Teas must be whole leaf not bags, and honey must be raw and unrefined. Organic if u can find it. Also put cinnamon in there and your good to go. Greg. Welcome . you will learn alot here. Guest guest
Equal parts acv and honey... like 1/4 to 1/2 " in bottom of glass (honey first).. then add water, stir to dissolve and I like to add ice and make it a cool drink... use say an 8 oz glass.. 3/4or so of water then a fe w cubes of ice. Guest guest
I missed what was said about the 8 cloves of garlic and I can't find the post. I think it's something I need to know. Does it go with the acv and honey for arthritis?
