Guest guest
I was making some steamed veggies in my bamboo steamer, I decided to have a few hot dogs too so they went in the water in the bottom. I took the bamboo part off wrong and burned myself sompin horrible, I was eating my hot dogs and mustard [i make my own by combining a jar of jalapeno peppers and a 12 oz bottle of yellow mustard-blend in blender] so here I am eating dinner and my finger hurts so bad, I was thinking I needed to go to the basement and wrap a piece of aloe Vera leaf arounds my finger for days, then I saw the mustard and tapped enough of it on my burn to cover it and the pain was Gone! YELLOW MUSTARD IS A HEALTH FOOD.The spice that gives yellow mustard its health benefits is turmeric. Turmeric is another ancient healing plant. The yellow color in turmeric is loaded with healing properties. Curcumin is thought to be the primary pharmacological comoponent in turmeric. Numerous studies have shown that curcumin's anti-inflammatory effects are comparable to hydrocortisone as well as over the counter anti-inflammatory drugs such as Motrin.Recent studies have shown strong anti cancer effects of curcumin and it has reduced the size of tumors in some patients. In cultures where curcumn consumption is high, such as India, there are less incidents of colon and breast cancer. Prostate cancer is a rare occurrence in India as well and many researchers attribute this to curcumin as well. Clinical trials of a circumin based regimen of foods have shown that it posesses strong antioxidant effects and destroys free radicals. It seems to have a positive effect on arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome, even cystic fibrosis.Curcumin has also been shown to help prevent colon cancer in rodent studies. Researchers set up a study to analyze how curcumin works and they found that it inhibits free radical damage of fats (such as those found in cell membranes and cholesterol) as well as prevents the formation of the inflammatory chemical cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), and induces the formation of a primary liver detoxification enzyme, glutathione S-transferase (GST) enzymes. What this indicates is that curcumin is a powerful anti cancer agent.http://hubpages.com/hub/Is-Yellow-Mustard-Good-For-You-Health-Benefits-of-MustardBetter than a VitaminMustard seeds are a very good source of omega-3 fatty acids as well as calcium, dietary fiber, iron, manganese, magnesium, niacin, phosphorus, protein, selenium and zinc. Guest guest
I don't know, but it worked for hemorrhoids too. The skin on my finger where I burned myself is thick like a callous, but no pain and it doesn't look bad, just like a nicely healed burn I suppose you could use powdered mustard made into a paste with vinegar. I think the vinegar helps too. Guest guest
Hi Team, Can someone tell me how to take tumeric? Do I just put the powder in a smoothie or to I encapsulate it? Also, if I am dealing with inflammation, do I just focus on the curcumin as a supplement, or use the whole tumeric herb? Thanks for the advice! Peace on earth, Cheryl Re: GOT A STEAM BURN? Guest guest
This did not work for wife, she burned her finger on an oven pan, she immediately put the finger in cool water while I got the mustard. She still blistered. I have heard the vinegar is good for sunburn, I suspect black tea is better. On 1/31/2011 3:34 PM, carus_lupus wrote: Did the mustard helped you due to the turmeric, or just because the mustard? Guest guest
O sorry she got a blister. I'm diabetic the healing for me is drastically different, And I didn't put the mustard on right away. I usually wear a aloe Vera bandage for hours, so I didn't want to do that, and I was eating my hamburger and thought I'd go get the aloe leaf later, then spied the mustard, Whoee quick relief. Guest guest
I use powdered turmeric in most of my one pot meals. You can also take turmeric powder capsules. Not sure how many caps are safe per day. However, when cooking with turmeric, just remember it turns anything yellow and can be bitter in the food, if too much is used. So use sparingly, until you get the hang of it. I never measure, but will use the tip of a tablespoon to get a little bit of turmeric powder on it and then stir it in the pot's contents.
