Guest guest
I tossed the book when I saw he was recommending margarine, canola and soy oils, egg substitutes and artificial sweeteners, among other horrors. The guy is completely out of touch with reality. He needs a lesson in anti-inflammatory prostaglandins as well. Guest guest
Janet, I also have some inflammation left ,specifically in my neck, shoulders and chest, I see an accupuncturist twice a week and she has been able to relieve most of the pain. Even with the intense detox program I did I still wasn't able to get rid of all my inflammation, the accupuncturist has helped me a lot. I think Chinese Medicine has a lot to offer mold patients. Guest guest
At 04:00 PM 4/22/2009, you wrote: >well it starts in my legs and sometimes all over. Even my fingers. Hmm, this sounds like carbon monoxide poisoning, which has the symptom of swollen areas of the body 'moving around', even as often as by the hour. Wake up each morning with a different swollen part. CO Poisoning is quite complex, during and after. It's nasty and after you solve the issue, symptoms can continue for years. Treatment is with high flow oxygen for 2 months (it's a new protocol). www.MCSRR.org >I live in a small town in Maine. The northeast is well known for winter time CO poisoning due to the snow, and use of gas heaters. The biggest cause is spring time nests made in the outer flue opening block exhaust gasses. There are many other causes, from both internal or external sources. Check your gas burners and exhaust flues for any sign of rust. Rust implies CO is present. The flue must then be checked to be air tight, or replaced, but the burner must be replaced as well. It's typically cheaper to replace the entire wall heater, or floor heater. It's almost safer if the USA Congress did not change the safety rules for a small piece of metal to position the burner reliably upon assemble, use and maintenance. It makes another 10 cents per unit for the maker, but that is not the whole story. If replacing the entire heater, do check the flues as if they have rust, then they should be replaced too. CO is very caustic and attacks the metal. CO is generated when the burner flames do not get a proper air to fuel mixture, which happens for dozens of conditions, too numerous to list here. Candles output CO all the time. If the flame flickers then it is putting out CO. The wicks contain toxins, unless its is made free of them (all cotton). Gas heaters on the roof can harm you. Central heaters too. If the heat exchanger (also known as the firebox) is cracked, then you are being poisoned. If the air in the home smells stale, or you open the windows to air out the place upon arriving home, or during the day, or in the morning, then you likely have CO present. Guest guest
Just wondering if you have tried going sugar-free. I notice my inflammation gets better when I avoid sugar and gluten. Best Regards, Dana Harding, Ph.D.
Guest guest
I haven't tried the gluten free. I have cut some of the sugar intake way down. I will try to take more of the sugar out and I will look up about gluten. they did a blood test on my glucose levels and they were 95 and the doc said it was normal. Thanks a lot.  Sue Kaminsky <skaykam48@...>
Guest guest
There is a ton of info on gluten-free diet on the web. It is a difficult diet if you like breads, cakes, and pastas, but if it makes a difference in your inflammation, it would be worth it! Sugar and fast starches seem to bloat me up and cause problems in my joints. I am trying to get off of them right now. They are so addictive! hth, dana Best Regards, Dana Harding, Ph.D.
Guest guest
For anyone who's looking for dietary advice on what to eat when you have an inflammatory disease, you might want to check out Dr. Weil's comments on the use of Enbrel and his suggestions for what to eat (basically very low protein, high carbs, avoid dairy.) This particular information can be found at http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/id/QAA252789 Joanna Hoelscher
Guest guest
Before I was first diagnosed, my sed rate was 60 and my doctor told me that was only " moderately high " . My C-Reactive Protein never got above 1 though. I don't know how long you've been on MTX but both numbers should go down as the drug begins to work and your inflammation is reduced. If MTX doesn't at least begin to work within 3-4 months (it takes longer than the biologics), you may have to move up to something else, likely Enbrel, or Humira. I was so inflamed by the time I got diagnosed (my disease came on very quickly), my legs and feet looked like what my internist called " tree stumps " , they were so swollen. After my first injection of Enbrel, there was a noticeable reduction within less than a day. Took longer for the pain to go away, but the swelling, i.e. inflammation, went away pretty quickly. Guest guest
, I did the elimination diet for skin allergies in the 80's It worked and at the end, we discovered I don't have food allergies. It was boring to start, weird foods to eat like squash for breakfast and nothing else. And it took alot of discipline to stay the course. I will try cutting out processed foods and sugar for now. But I may take your suggestion, if this does not help me. > > , > > > I did the elimination diet for skin allergies in the 80's It worked and at the end, we discovered I don't have food allergies.
