Guest guest
This reminds me to ask something I've been thinking about. How do you care for sprouts during a drought? I've been using an awful lot of water rinsing my sprouts. I'm sure that will slow down after the novelty wears off, but still, it seems like an awful lot of water. I thought the rainwater solution sounded good (though I don't collect any--that's next on my list. So is a filter...). I don't suppose reusing the drain water is good, because one of the reasons for rinsing is to get rid of stuff (what exactly I don't know). So what will you all do when water is in short supply? Im commenting on using rainwater for your sprouting. Although I use my rainwater for watering gardens, animals etc. Im not sure that rainwater collected and in a barrel would be great to use for Sprouting. I do not know how your system is set up, what your roofing material is, what your gutters look like inside. Im not into gutter cleaning regularly. If you had a metal roof I would probably consider it the cleanest for upkeep, but any size barrel would attract insects especially mosquitos. Food for thought.
