As best I can tell I'm doing everything else to enhance digestion;fermented veggies with each meal, chewing longer and not drinking with meals. So I thought maybe with all the fat I'm consuming I simply need more supplemental enzymes for now but I don't want to take more than I need and waste them. I'm wondering if heartburn kind of pain would be indicative of an overdose of enzymes? How else would one tell if he or she is taking too many enzymes? > > Phil Well here Ari goes again about why people should get their nutrition from whole foods instead of pills and supplements. When you get your enzymes in a food you're getting all kinds of other stuff to balance such as protein, water and fiber and other nutrients. You don't have the problem of overconcentration and overdose that you get from isolated supplements. It's a more...organic way of eating Ari
Guest guest
Thanks . I'm suspecting the problem is the sphincter atrophy as eating ginger really makes a difference. Also my upper lip has shrunk at about the same time which I believe is related to digestive system. Could consuming large quantities of lemon water cause the atrophy?Somehow reduce HCL production? I was doing that for a couple of weeks to flush out lyme and metal detox garbage. Phil Re: Digestive Enzymes your gall bladder. As to the heartburn, the most likely explanation is either hypochlorhydria (insufficient stomach acid production) or lower esophageal sphincter atrophy -- or both, since hypochlorhydria tends to cause the atrophy. Since you have very firm stools, hypochlorhydria is less likely, but you could experiment with HCl supplementation, which isn't dangerous at all unless you go completely crazy and ignore the very clear signs you'd get if you took too much. The only non-surgical treatment I know of for sphincter atrophy is ginger juice. If you google reflux and ginger juice you'll find a protocol that recommends 1 teaspoon taken upon rising every day for three weeks. That didn't work for me. Several months of taking 1-2 tablespoons with each meal, however, did. It could also be that your body will eventually adapt to the higher levels of fat you're consuming, but if I were you, I'd be proactive and try a course of ginger juice. You could also try a challenge test for hypochlorhydria, again being cautious.

Guest guest
I sure do. I will resume it on Tuesday. I assume it must have carbs in addition to the fats and protein. Guest guest
Yeah, and I just finished reading the late Dr. Bernard Jensen's book, The Magic of Goat Milk, really an impressive book, anyways, he headed up some sanitariums in California years back and had one guy in there that was 40 lbs. underweight. He told the guy to go out and milk a goat and drink a big glass every few hours. Well, he did and ended up gaining back all the weight in a few months and left the clinic with a goat in tow!! Good luck, Juli --- REMOC <REMOCLIHP@...> wrote: > I sure do. I will resume it on Tuesday. Guest guest
So now I wonder if I should give up fat to help the area heal or does the healthy fats help the sphincter heal? Guest guest
The BEST digestive enzymes I've found (after a 40+ year search) is Supreme Digestive Enzymes from www.E3Live.com They are incredibly powerful and are combined with super blue-green algae for a powerful energy & nutrition punch too! Guest guest
Hi Candace, I take plant-based enzymes, because those are the only kind that your body can't make. Any time you cook a food over 115 deg., you are killing all the enzymes in that food, so these make up for what is cooked out of your food. The capsules have 13 different enzymes that break down all types of foods, and will work in your body no matter what your pH level is. They also have organic blue green algae blended in, which supplies vitamins and minerals which the enzymes need to work, and they have fennel, ginger, and cayenne, which also helps support digestion. http://www.healthyfutures.net/bluegreensolutions/products/products/e-12.php I would suggest not going with fruit-based or pancreatic-based, because those work in only a small pH range - so for instance, if your pH level is 7, and the fruit-based enzymes work only when the pH level is 2-3, then they probably won't work in your body. Also, Pancreatic enzymes (which are from an animal source) will work only in an alkaline pH of about 7.8 to 8.4. Almost no one is that alkaline, so they probably won't work in your body. I have done a lot of testing on enzymes products from the health food store, and most of them are garbage. I have done the " pudding test " on many different brands, and most don't work at all. Pudding test is - open a capsule and stir it into pudding. It should liquify in just a couple minutes, and if it doesn't, then it won't work inside you either. Make sure you scroll down to the bottom of that page, and click on " More information about enzymes " - very informative. Guest guest
Candace - you couldn't order? That's weird - did the company not even answer their phone? I've never had a problem ever. Yes, if you put the enzymes on a quarterly autoship they give you 20% off. Good deal. I've been doing it that way for 15 years. Guest guest
You may also want to give probiotics a try. Also, what about doing a food journal and writing down everything you eat during the day and then writing down when you have a problem, you may be able to eliminate some foods, or add something else, to help with digestion. Guest guest
Well my digestion is a mess because from the age of 13-22 I had a BM once a month. I was completely clueless back then about diet or herbs so I just took that as my "normal". Dumb, I know. One BM a month though. Yeah how did I stay alive you ask? I don't know! Now I have Systemic Lupus (from too many toxins in my system for almost 10 years!?) and the most painful part of it is the gastroparesis. I have a gallbladder so atrophied they couldn't find it when they tried doing an ultrasound. They found a cluster of stones under my liver and assumed that's my gallbladder... I also have stones in my liver, pancreas, and clogging up my intestines. After many many many kidney infections I now am passing kidney stones as well.... all that going on in my guts just kinda backed up into my stomach I guess. I think maybe for a while the food had nowhere to go and the muscles in my stomach just stopped working. Now when it acts up (I honestly don't know why it does from time to time) when I eat or drink anything it just sits in my stomach for days and then either slowly passes through after much pain or I puke it back up. Yuck! I take lots of Dr Schulze's Formula #1 pills every day and do enemas just to have daily BMs and every month or 2 months as I can afford it I do his liver cleanse. I just allowed my system to get SO messed up it has been SLOW going trying to fix it. I did a raw diet and juice fasts for a few months and got sicker and sicker and sicker and was about to lose my job so I had to stop. Now I do mostly raw almost 100% vegan and am just trying to clear as much out of my guts as I can. but slower this time around so I don't detox so severely. That was a long answer to your question ha! I tried finding GT Kombucha online to buy but can't. They pulled it from shelves and I don't know when it will be back. The other brands don't work!!!!! When I made my own it also did the trick but my Scoby is dead. Kefir works but I have to drink it every 20-30 minutes to ward off the pain. It's better than nothing but barely. Guest guest
GARBAGE! As a teen it was sugar sugar meat junk sugar meat junk... which was a complete turnaround from when I was a kid. We ate really healthy... our idea of a treat was when my mom would let us have one of her yogurts. Go figure, as soon as I start eating garbage as a teen my guts went haywire. From 18-21 it was a lot of Kool Aid and Ramen Noodles. It was cheap. So it's no surprise everything stopped working when it did. When I was 21 I got pregnant with Brock and did a complete turnaround back to how I ate as a kid. I couldn't bring myself to eat anything in a box or can. The site of meat sent me running to go puke. So Brock turned my diet around but I was REALLY sick the entire pregnancy and the year afterwards I went down down downhill and almost died. SO sick with an unexplained illness. My dr says that was a lupus flare. I think it was a severe detox from getting off the sugar and garbage. I had also started taking Formula #1 (wow I've been taking it for 8 years!) so things were starting to move. I think toxins were getting knocked loose every which way!
