Guest guest
I know we have dog owners in the group and would like to ask for advice (I have tried searching the group archives and find nothing on canine UTI's) Anyway, new German Shepherd pup, born 9/11/10, we've had her since the week of Halloween. She came to us at approx. 6 weeks with a UTI, I had her to the vet within a few days due to noticing that and to have her checked for any other issues not seen. Pup has had 2 UTI's so far, and has Struvyte (sp) crystals in her urine. Per a draw done the end of last week and a lab test, bladder urine is clear, but collected, passed urine contains blood, white cells and grows the crystals once spun in the lab, so the issue is in the uretha. I have had the pup on daily doses of probiotics and a cranberry concoction for weeks now. She's eating a raw diet supplemented with a dry organic natural dogfood. Other than this, the puppy is healthy, very active, and has gone from less than 10 pounds when we got her to 40 pounds. Based on the size of her mom and dad, she's probably going to top out in the neighborhood of 100-112 pounds. Any suggestions on what to do about the UTI issue?
