Guest guest
, Here is what I would try. Call your insurance company and explain that there are no experienced STARband makers in your area that are covered by your insurance. Tell them that most of the makers have no experience and the only one that seems to have experience has only made 7. You can play on them a little and ask how they would feel taking their child to a place for a serious treatment at a place that only did the treatment occassionally on the side. Like taking their child to a regular dentist rather then an orthodontist for braces. Take that angle and see if they will authorize the CT clinic you've mentioned previously to do the treatment. Really emphasize the importance of your baby getting treatment from a clinic that is experienced wtih headgear designed to treat plagio. To really answer your question though, I would probably not take my child to a place that has only made 7 STARbands. Guest guest
, Only with before and after pics would I let someone this green take care of my son's headshape- its just too limited experience for my taste to chance ample correction time being wasted on someone inexperienced. Guest guest
Hi , Orthomerica called me and they don't have anybody near me other then the place I mentioned and CPO consultants. I know somebody on the board went to CPO and wasn't happy with them. The orthotist from the place by me called me this am. He's going to take the class that Orthmerica provides, this summer. He doesn't have pictures, but is going to call me with the names and numbers of parents who have had STARbands for their children. As of now, I'm just going to go with CT in NJ and pay cash. If she needs a second band, then I'll have to look into the STARband. Hopefully 4.5 months from now I'll be able to find an experienced ortho by me. > , > Only with before and after pics would I let someone this green take care of > my son's headshape- its just too limited experience for my taste to chance > ample correction time being wasted on someone inexperienced. Guest guest
, I know this is hard...but you are doing the right thing...being such a GREAT mommy to find the best for your baby! Not long ago I was in the same mess that you are...I was shocked when I was able to get my ped to write a script for the DOCband and then even though our insurance deemed this out of network they are now saying they will pay (even though there IS Hanger here, too). The letter of medical necessity we used had a part on why we were going out of network, because of the patented DOCband. I don't know how to do a search, but I posted it here...actually Rehab Designs of America (a CT clinic) provided it to my pediatrician...If you go with CT...they will probably guide your ped through this...they sent my ped the form letter of medical necessity to use, Grant's measurements from the consult, literature on the DOCband and plagio, and I think even instructions on what they needed on the script. Hang in there...your baby is LUCKY to have you as a mom! , Mom to Grant (born 9/26/01) ...in DOCband since 6/14/
Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for the encouraging words! has a casting appt. on Wednesday! My ped. said today that she is going to call my ins com. and try to get them to pay. I'm going to ask CT to get in touch with her also, as I'm sure this is the first time she is dealing with this.
