Guest guest
, The STARband works the same as the DOCband and does correct facial assymetry and ear misalignment. Of course, how much correction you get varies from baby to baby and from situation to situation. In the hands of a skilled and professional ortho the STARband can be every bit as effective as the DOCband. The key is the ortho. They can really make or break the success your child experiences with the STARband. As you have already discovered, the DOC people are very good at what they do. All they do is treat babies with plagio. STARband orthos often treat other conditions with other orthotic devices as well. Best wishes with your search for the right device! Guest guest
Hi all, Well I went to CT today. (I got lost on the way there and on the way home! lol)Charlotte was GREAT! I was so impressed with her. really liked her too. Charolette said that has significant flattening on the right side. She also has some flattening on the left side. She said 's plagio is moderate and she recommends a band. The sucky part is my ins won't pay anything because CT is out of network. They will however pay for me to go to Hanger because they are in network. I'm definitely not going to Hanger. I'm going to call every orthotist in my area that takes my ins. If I find one that is VERY familiar with the STARband, that's the route I'm going to go. If I can't find one then I guess I'm just going to have to pay cash for the DOC band. Does anybody know if the STARband corrects facial asymmetry like the DOC band does? Thanks,
Guest guest
: Sounds like you had a terrific appt with CT . What a bummer that your insurance won't cover the DOCband. You are doing the right thing by thoroughly interviewing any would be orthotists to make sure they have experience w/the STARband if that's the route you end up going. The STARband should also help correct facial assymetries. Let us know what you find out about any STARbands in your area. Thanks for the update .
