Guest guest
, When my son Vince was 2 wks old, I found what appeared to be a lump that ran from below his ear to his collar bone. Our ped, being the idiot that we were soon to discover, said there was nothing wrong. We went back and forth with this advice for about 2 1/2 months. As Vince grew older, he was failing to use his left side and never turned to that side either. Well, of course his head began to flatten. This ped was still not concerned. We finally changed peds and he was DX with plagio secondary to torticollis. Helmet and PT were started w/in two weeks. He wore a locally made helmet by Ballert Ortho. His head shape was severe enough that he wore it for about 1 1/2yrs. When he first finished up, I thought and wished there had been better correction. It seems there has been much more correction as he's growing. His ear alignment also looks much better. I would say that he's had about 95% correction. For those of you just getting started, you must be patient, the treatment, as long as it's done correctly, will work!! I had met a family who decided not to continue treatment and that poor child looked horrible. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this is purely cosmetic but it may be preventing your child from facing future medical problems if left un-treated. Guest guest
thank you so much for responding to my email..so you say that you have seen improvement even since the banding..thats great..i hope to see that with my son has he grows to..he is 18 months now but was a severe case of positional plagio.. he was banded at 8 months and was banded for 6 months...we only had one band however..we could have had 2 but both my husband and i and our pt thought it wouldn't be beneficial since his soft spots were pretty close to being closed..so yeah..i'm so happy to hear that you have seen even more correction..that gives me great hope..thank you and congrats on your great success.. brenda mom of tucker From Old Timer , When my son Vince was 2 wks old, I found what appeared to be a lump that ran from below his ear to his collar bone.
