Guest guest
Hi everyone! I just wanted to keep in touch with all of you who gave me such great advice. I am still torn over what to do! My biggest thing is that the orthist told me at that appt. that Logan's was very mild. He then said that if my insurance would pay for it that we should go ahead and try it and if he didn't like it we could just throw it away. I am sorry if this makes anyone angry because it really bothers me that he would say that. It seems like he is not concerned about my son, but about getting his money. I just feel like that he thinks his head is not really bad enough to do it. What do you think now? Mandy--Logan's mom
Guest guest
Mandy how old is Logan again? Have you take pictures? Maybe if he is young enough and it is mild then you may want to reposition and see if that is effective. Have you posted pictures of Logan yet? Do you have a DOC clinic close to you? Maybe you want to try a free evaluation there and see what they think. It is such a tough decision to make. Logan wont be mad at you later he wont even remember having it on until you show him the pictures so don't let that worry you!:-) Beck
Guest guest
Mandy, Hmm, well I think your ortho is not doing a real good job. He should be serious and dedicated to treating children with plagio. I would be very concerned about going through treatment with that person. Is there another clinic nearby (or maybe not so nearby) where you could get another opinon? I think saying you could " throw it away " is a bad approach. Like I said, treating plagio is a serious business and this seems like a real casual approach. I agree with Debbie, you should go with your gut instinct. If you are still really undecided then I think a second opinin would really help! Good luck with your decision - I can imagine how difficult this must be. Guest guest
Mandy: You still sound undecided and concerned about Logan's head shape. Could you get a 2nd opinion from any other orthotist or specialiast? This orthotist you talked to bothers me too! " Just throw the helmet away " if Logan didn't like it? And only get it if insurance covers it?? WHOA! Not the right attitude for sure. The bottom line is it's your decision. Do what your gut is telling you to do. Have you been repositioning Logan? Any improvement if so? Sorry you had such a bad appt......thanks for the update & please keep us posted. Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad MI > Hi everyone! Guest guest
Hi. Sorry you had such a bad experience with that orthotist. You really need to go with your gut instinct and what you feel is best for your son. I will say that my daughter was diagnosed as moderate and friends of mine said that they wouldn't have noticed my daughter's flat spot had I not pointed it out to them. We decided to seek treatment with the DOC Band. 's been in her band for 1 1/2 months and there is major improvement! I don't regret getting her band for one second. Definitely, get a second opinion with a different orthotist or band/helmet company. Good luck. , 's mom-Southern California mklight699@... wrote: Hi everyone! Guest guest
Mandy, It sounds to me like you have nothing to lose if the insurance pays, and the Doctor may feel that if you have more to gain than to lose, why not give it a try and see how it goes and if there is correction to be made- all the better! But if you feel it is very mild as a parent, then go with your instinct. Let us know what you decide! ' Mom

Guest guest
- Logan did great. Only one slight red spot that went away. He is acting like nothing is different. We are so happy. Now his sister keeps wanting to take it off & play with it! She is another story!
