Guest guest
Thanks to all of you. I thought I posted about the decorations, but maybe it didn't show up? I decorated it right after we got home from CT. It has blue lettering spelling GRANT across the forehead and then little green bugs with various silly faces, little boys in blue and red doing handstands and stuff, and little red and white lollipops all over it. It looks really cute!!! Andersen <christina_a444@...> wrote: I think we all felt that way at first. But, after afew visits to CT, you see all the other headbandbabies and there families and you don't feel so aloneand out of place. It also helps to read and respondto posts. You might also want to decorate the headband. It's actually fun to do and it doesn't look so"prosthetic." People actually comment on how cute thedecorations are and they curiously and usuallypolitely ask what the band's for. We took our daughterwith us to dinner the first day in her band and alittle boy in the next booth kept staring and askinghis grandparents why she was wearing a helmet. Youexpect and excuse this behavior from children. But,from and adult? Unfortunately you experienced ararity of running into an immature !@#$%. Remember,it's temporary, the baby won't remember it, and it'sall worth it for correction to their little heads. , 's momSouthern California--- Robben <kellysdogs@...> wrote:> > That is what it felt like yesterday at the mall!> ...I took Grant (day 2 in the DOC band) to the mall> yesterday and it was really, really hard for me the> way people just STARED at him. Guest guest
: People can be cruel. But most people just don't understand. I have found that I feel better when I can educate people and assure them that this is a really great solution. Annika has had her band for 5 weeks now. It does get easier to handle the stares! There are times now when I forget that she is even wearing the band. Hang in there. Guest guest
Hi , I was thinking...maybe that man was laughing b/c he thought the helmet was cute? I know when I see something cute on a kid...like if they have a funny hat on..I laugh. Just a thought. I don't mean to minimize your experience cuz you know best...just a thought. Dana > > Thanks, Marci...what shocked me the most was that this man was in Toys R Us...you'd think most people there would be sensitive to children...but, you know I keep thinking maybe he thought it was a crash helmet or something, LOL...I don't know?! I'm over it, though . > > > > > , Mom to Grant (born 9/26/01) ...in DOCband since 6/14/02 > > > --------------------------------- >
