Guest guest
, It is possible for tort to return- they usually say to keep an eye on it until 2 years old, to be on the safe side. I have heard about the tilt returning if they are teething, or going through a milestone or illness, and I have heard of them losing range of motion if the muscle is not stretched enough. I will say that although my son was considered severe (dx at 2 months, he is now 1.5 months), we were in pt for about 6-7 months, weekly, as well as everyday at home, and we are still seeing residual effects of tort come and go with milestones and sickness. We still monitor how he sits, how he holds his head, and we try to use passive, fun stretches through holding him sideways and tilting him towards his tort side to continue to work that muscle. When sleeps, try to position her had towards the tort side, we try to maintain that level of ROM, because I feel (DH argues with me here) that some days he does have more range than others- so sometimes I will turn his head to the left for good measure. You can also incorporate all of those ROM exercises by making her really look at the tv with the tort side, or blowing bubbles and making her look that way, holding her body so she doesn't use her entire body to turn. For sure don't close the door on being aware of the tort until she is at least 2- just in case! Check in at www.torticolliskids , I am sure there will be tons of moms to help with tips! Good luck! Guest guest
, Our doctor said that we would need to keep up with stretching until Sam is at least 2 years old. He has days when his tilt is as bad as I've ever seen, and days when I don't notice it at all. I think it depends on growth spurts and how tired he is. Gail, Sam and Sara's mom, DOC grads Is it possible for torticollis to return? > Hi, > I have a tort question. was in PT for tort for 3 months, twice > a week. Guest guest
Hi, Thanks for the replys. When we finished with PT I was never told to continue the streching at home. I'm going to wait and see what Charlotte has to say about it when I bring for a consult on Thursday. To be honet I don't even remember how to do the streches. , I did check out torticolliskids, it's a great board. I'm going to spend sometime tonight reading through some posts to refresh my memory on the streches. Thanks, > , > It is possible for tort to return- they usually say to keep an eye on it > until 2 years old, to be on the safe side.
