Guest guest
My son is almost three months and he has the back of his head flattened, so I am laying him on his sides, alternating, to let the back of his head round out again. I believe that is the reason for the repositioning, and not to flatten anything else out I think lots of tummy time is good for all of the plagio problems (although hard, will take about fifteen minutes at a time now) and using their " good " side/s whenever possible. I also try and use pressure reducers, there are various products for that, I have a pillow thing attached to my positioner and I really want to get the Boppy Noggin nest but as I got the Boppy tummy time I have to wait till next month I use the little u pillow I got with my Boppy nursing pillow behind his head when he is flat on his back or in his swing/bouncy seat. I think I am seeing some minor changes, but maybe it is in my head-lol we will see, I have a pic. Well, good luck with the repositioning!! Guest guest
At 2 1/2 months old, that flat side will grow out if the pressure is not at the back of the head constantly, so you'll want to keep that side of the head off of constant pressure (swings, bouncers, sleep). It's important that you keep on top of it so that you can prevent any worsening, and hopefully allow time off of the flat spot to help it grow out correctly. Be sure that your child does not suffer from tort (tight neck muscle), because this needs to be addressed as this may be the main issue, and plagio (flatness) only secondary. If your child has tort, the left back is being flattened because they favor that side- usually because they cannot rotate their head to the tort side (in your case, the right would be the tort, if that is the case- which it may very well not be). Another tell tale sign of tort may be a tilting of the head- in your case, she may tilt to the right- if any of this seems like it applies and your concerned, ask your Doctor to address possible torticollis- which can be treated with physical therapy. Good luck and please keep us posted! Your at a great earlier age for repositioning to be a viable option. ' Mom
