I have a 2 1/2 month old daughter who has a mildly flattened left-

back side of her head. I have read that using repositioning can help

this, and to take pictures to compare over the weeks to see if it is

working. But I am unclear about how this works. If I reposition my

daughter to the side that is not flattened, will that that side

flatten to make it more symmetrical, or does do this allow the

flattened side to grow back out? Is the flattened side permanently

flattened? Thanks for any clarifications for me!

Hi there & welcome to our group!!!

Repositioning will help round out your daughter's flat side by

keeping pressure off that side while she is on her back. It most

likely will not flatten the non flat side of her head, but keep an

eye on it to be sure. The flat side shouldn't be " permanently "

flattened, repositioning can improve the flatness. If not, then

there are always uses of bands and helmets to help correct this

condition.

Check out www.plagiocephaly.org/support then click " repositioning

tips " - this is a great site with excellent ideas!

We have a lot of repositioners in our group, I'm sure they'll also

give you great advice.

Your daughter is at a great age to see results with repositioning

alone.

Best of luck ---- please keep us updated!!! Welcome again :)
