Yes it can. Dane was a little behind GMS until his tort was

resolved, which was almost a month ago. Within a week, he was off!

Now he is all over the place and is trying to pull himself up.

We could us the band again. He has 2 bruises on his poor face!

Thanks for the mirror tip. I'll try it. There's alot of things that

doesn't do yet.She doesn't crawl.(She combat crawled last

Sunday for the first time.) She doesn't try to pull herself up to

stand. If you hold her hands and make her stand.(from behind her) she

doesn't put one foot in front of the other. She didn't roll over

until she was 8mths old. She didn't sit up until she was 7-8 mths old.

She just learned how to hold her bottle UP,so the formula goes into

the nipple. I know she's a little behind. I was just wondering why.

Now I know.

Thanks,

Our OT, Charlotte, at CT told us that there are some findings that there could

be problems with fine motor skills, even later on, if crawling is skipped.

The example she gave us was problems with handwriting. does

not crawl yet (he's 8.5 months). I'm just getting him to tollerate tummy

time. He is doing better with that and is now pushing up on his hands and

moving his legs, which is what I hear as the precurser to crawling. I'm

definitely going to check into PT for him. Our hosptial has a child development

department for which I have an appointment next Thurs. I checked into

early intervention and they probably will not be able to see him for 6

weeks. Isn't that crazy?! What a contradiction in terms. I guess most

state programs just look good in theory and on paper but the reality of

it isn't always what it is cracked up to be.

's head tilts towards the flat side, which is, from what Charlotte

said, is rare. Now we are doing double the exercises. 3 sets of 4 exercises

5 times a day is tough to do with my little guy but it does seem to be helping.

ann,

I had Early Intervention at my house on Tuesday to evaluate .

They said not only did she have a gross motor skills delay but that

she also has a fine motor skills delay. She'll be 11 mths old on the

27th and just started to combat crawl. From what I understand, for

some kids it's pretty important for them to crawl. Please post how

things go on Thursday with the child development dept.

I'll definitely let you know how it goes on Thurs. I spoke with the PT today

who gave

me some excellent ideas on what to do during tummy time. She said to make him

reach for toys so he can practice balance. I'm very excited to see the PT and

know

what the extent of 's problems are. The girl who we will be seeing also

works

for the early intervention and will be able to determine if is eligible.

He has

to have a 25% delay in 2 or more areas or a 33% delay in one.

What was interesting about the PT today is how she supported the DOC band!!

She asked me if I was going to Paramus and I excitedly said YES!! She said that

she has seen many kids go to Paramus for the band. She also said that she

has seen real good results and that we went to the right place. That made me

feel

soooooo good! I told her how the ped dismissed 's problem and she

sympathized and agreed with me to get corrective measures for . Made

me feel even better!! : )

's tummy time is improving even more! I'm lucky to do the exercises

4 times a day - mostly I'm doing them 3 times - he doesn't like them at all -

you

know my little sensitive guy. What is interesting is that there doesn't seem to

be

any tightness - his head goes so easily in the direction I push it - I hope I'm

doing

them right. I do the exercises for tort on both sides - as per Charlotte.

How long did you wait to get an appointment with early intervention?
