Wow, you are a wealth of knowledge!!

I have BSS2 – and just love

it. That’s the system I used when getting back in shape after DD

#1. I tried to use it to get back into it after DD #2 but I think I’m

burned out. I did 2 then just couldn’t do it again! I do love

the sculpting bar, I use it for other workouts too. I agree that you

really don’t need it but I think it’s nice in the beginning.

I think I’d like to try out BSS4 –

it sounds like a better system than BSS3. It really is funny how they

keep changing it up – probably to keep us interested!

Just to come clean – I’m a

fitness instructor myself. J But I love my video/DVD workouts! I love getting new

ideas, keeping up with the times, and working out at home so that I don’t

have to drag 2 kids out in the New England winter weather in order to

workout.

Back to OT – Yes, I was able to find

a preschool that takes kids pre-potty training. They actually help you

along the path too – they will put your child on the potty at least once

while they are there (that’s if you want them to). DD loves it but

I am reminded of how young she still is at times, nonetheless I needed the

break! GL with your search for a place for your DD!

Take care,

Dawn

Subject: Dawn -

BSS's

Hi Dawn!

I'm sorry - BSS= Body Sculpting System. When

the FIRM

workouts were being released by Goodtimes (who is

now

out of business, I believe and the FIRMs will be

handled through Gaiam - the yoga people -) they

released several " infomercial "

sets.

BSS1 was the first and it had Cardio Sculpt, Body

Sculpt and Ab Sculpt - it also introduced the

two-piece blue and purple Fanny Lifter (in the old

FIRM, pre-Goodtimes, they used wooden step stools).

Also, right after this release, 6 shorter workouts

were released - those names are very confusing all

six

seem to use a combination of " sculpt "

and " blaster " !

BSS2 - was second - had three workouts - I believe

the

names were Complete Aerobic Weight Training,

Maximum

Cardio Burn Plus Abs, and Total Body Sculpt Plus

Abs

(I could be off on the names). THis set

introduced

the " Sculpting stick " (Goodtimes was

very big on

coming up with different pieces of equipment for

people to buy!) which is basically a body bar -

but

this one has two detachable ends that you can use

for

light (2lb, I believe, handweight. You

really don't

need the sculpting stick to do these

workouts. Also

released were Calorie Killer, Firm Abs and Upper

Body

Sculpt

BSS3 - third - included the new " FIRM

Box " which was

the precursor to the TransFIRMer (which is much

better

in terms of construction). The FIRM box is

adjustable

- 6 inches for step aerobics, 14 inches for tall

step

work and it inclines by lowering one side

down. It

wasn't the best construction-wise and they

revamped it

with the TransFIRMer which are two stackable

stpes, so

you get 6 inches, 8 inches, 14 inches, plus an

incline

by locking one end into place on the other piece.

Nevertheless, this was the first time the FIRM

workouts included traditional step-aerobic moves

as

the Firm Box was the size of a home-size step -

the

surface of the Fanny Lifter was too small for

traditional step aerobics. There were three

workouts

released initially - Fat Blasting Cardio (30 min

cardio routine), Complete Body Shaping (? - the

names

do throw me off) and Max Body Sculpting (? again,

I

could be off here) both the Complete and Max

workouts

are aerobic/toning and about 45 minutes in length.

Other workouts were also released, Express Cardio,

Express Sculpt (?) and a floor work DVD (abs, hips

and

thighs???)

BSS4 - uses the TransFIRMer - there are three

workouts, Ultimate Calorie Blaster (this is a

45-50

min cardio workout), Supercharged Sculpting (a 40

min

sculpt workout) and Aerobic Body Shaping (? again,

not

quite sure of the name, but it is an hour long

workout

that incorporates by aerobic and toning

intervals).

Also, there are the " jigggle free "

workouts which are

shorter and focus on abs, butt and arms.

Overall I'd say that GoodTimes did better with the

even numbered sets, my favorites are the workouts

from

BSS2 and BSS4.

Hope that helps!

Now - on to the OT - my daughter is 2 1/2 now

also.

How did you find a placement for her that did not

require potty training? Or, do the 3 year

old classes

by you require potty training? I'm looking

at a 3

year old program and they want them completely

independent in that area. Geez.. I have

quite a bit

of work ahead of me if I'm going to achieve that

by

September.

Take care!!!

Hi Dawn!

What can I say? I'm an exercise video/dvd geek!! BSS4

is better than BSS3 - and, you can use the equipment

from BSS4 to workout with the BSS3 workouts. I do

like both cardio workouts that I have done from BSS3 -

they're pretty intense when you put them back to back,

a bit more intense, I think than the BSS4 cardio

worout.

We have quite a few fitness instructors here - our

fearless leader, (where are you?) and Tonya and

perhaps some others.

I can definately agree about working out at home ---

it is so convenient - especially with kids in the

picture. I workout early in the morning for now (even

though Im not a morning person by any stretch and am

not very pleasant until I've had my coffee...and I

workout before the coffee) and it is just nice to

get it in and done before the day starts.
