Hi there. I've been repositioning our 3 month old, Abby, for a week

now. It's going fairly smoothly, but I've been wondering...

1) She's a side sleeper. I've been sleeping her exclusively on her

left side (plagio behind her right ear). Seems to me she's going to

get flat on this side now. QUESTION: Should I ever be putting her on

flat side to sleep? She sleeps all night for at least 8 hours.

2) Am I correct in understanding that if her flat spot is on the

RIGHT, then she has LEFT plagio? Her right forehead and cheek

protrude, so it seems reasonable that it would be RIGHT plagio.

Just curious,

Christy

Christy: I'm glad things are going so smooth so far! Keep up your

great work! I'll answer your questions below:

A) I would keep her off her flat side as much as you can and keep

positioning her on her non flat side. Keep a close eye on the non

flat side though, if you do notice it flattening some, then you might

want to try something different. But in the mean time, I wouldn't be

too nervous about it as long as you monitor it.

Did anyone mention to you about taking pictures of Abby's head on a

weekly basis or so to monitor any changes that might occur with

repositioning? This is really helpful. Try taking the pictures with

her hair wet standing directly above her. I found those to be the

truest pictures of the flatness.

A) If her flatness is on her right, then I beleive it's right

plagio. That's what I always called my Abby's who was flat on her

right side as well.

Keep up your great work.

Hi Christy. My son has his tort on the same side of his flatness - both right.

Our

orthotist said that this is rare but does happen. I think you need to see to

which

direction her head tilts and that is the side of the tort. Chances are what you

said

will be the case since our case is rare. I believe my son got his flatness and

tort on the same side because he slept in his carseat at night for his first 2

months.

His head tilted to the right and with the way the carseat is shaped, the right

side of his head leaned up against the seat.
