Guest guest
Hi, Thank you everyone for replying to my email. This is 's second try with a band. She did have a Starband from January to March without much correction. She was in and out of it alot because of bad adjustments. She was probably in it for 6 consecutives weeks in total. She had stop wearing it because our ns feared that a suture maybe closed and we were told not to wear it and sent for scans. We saw several specialists and one ns and plastic surgeon actually recommended surgery to correct her retrusive eye. So, she was out of the band for sometime. Therefore, she outgrow it. This time we went to a local place that makes a band similiar to the starband but my insurance covers them 100%. The first band was out of pocket. I didn't have much confidence in this facility (Hanger) but I figured we would give it a try. The dr. that sent us there sends lots of kids there - so how bad can they be? Well, after I told the ortho that took the whole thing off he said it will be big and keep putting it on and seeing if she'll evidently leave it! I told him that it has to be too big. That I would understand if she pulls the velcro and it comes off but not entirely intact! He said to keep trying. He said it needs to be big! Well, I know better. I can't get an appt. until Monday, 6/17, so for now she's not wearing it. I am going to set him staright on Monday! Thanks for listening! Guest guest
Gosh Dina: Talk about bad luck . Bands are big at first, but not so big that the band simply comes right off the child's head! That is absolutely ridiculous you cannot get back into the ortho til next Monday? WOW......definitely set him straight next Monday. So sorry to hear you're having bad luck again Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad MI > Hi, > Thank you everyone for replying to my email. This is 's second > try with a band. Guest guest
Dina, I'm glad to hear that you have an appt on Monday. Please do let us know how it goes. I think it is only right for you to expect your ortho to LISTEN to and RESPOND appropriately to your concerns. Slightly loose is one thing, too big is quite another! Good luck and keep us posted!
