Guest guest
Hi Amy, It seems to me that you have a great chance of getting your denial overturned simply because BCBS of North Carolina has already covered a headband already for another baby at 100%. You can see for yourself if you go into this groups " Database " section and open the section " Who's Insurance Paid What. " I don't know what your daughter's condition is, but the baby I'm speaking of had torticollis and was not born with a flatspot. This is the same condition as my daughter. Make sure to address this in your appeal letter. I formatted my appeal letter after an appeal letter that's posted here at the group site under " Files " , then go to " Help Folder " and then to " Insurance Help. " Once in here the letter is titled " Coventry Appeal " and after his second appeal letter his denial was overturned. The first appeal letter refers to several articles, and peer-reviewed journal articles. Two of the reference materials from the AMA and WebMD are listed in the " Insurance Help " section and the others I received from Cranial Therapies. Did your insurance send the information on which they based their denial? I had to request this info and one of the interesting reasons they listed was that " remarkably few adults have deformities...suggesting that the abnormality is either self-correcting or effectively masked... " Hello, you idiots, plagiocephaly is tied to the Back to Sleep movement of 1992. Adults now were primarily stomach sleepers when they were babies because that's what doctors recommended then! I referred to the article " Sleep Position Tied to Head Flattening " in Pediatric News (from CT) and a description of positional plagiocephaly at http://www.mcg.edu/SOM/surgery/neuros/Plagio.html If you'd like you can call me at home at (909)463-6505 or you can post your fax # or mailing address and I can send you copies of my letter and everything. I'm not that computer savvy and don't know how to copy all my info to group or e-mail. Good luck. , 's mom Southern California
