Guest guest
~ I know that I have heard the term "cauliflower ear" can you explain that more to me? I am wondering if that is what Grace has?? Or would she have grown out of it by now (9 months) My ped told us that her ear was more a cosmetic issue now from the tort and the way her head rested on her shoulder in utero but I can't help wondering if it will eventually even out as she grows older?? Of course I accidentally deleted the pic you were referring to of I believe it was Christys child? Thanks and Grace
Guest guest
Christy: Abby is sooo cute! I sure can tell she is her father's joy in that adorable photograph. I cannot recall ever hearing about an underdeveloped ear as a result of plagio or tort in our group. I would suggest talking this over with your pediatrician, then ask for a referral to an ENT specialist (ear nose & throat). I would think an ENT specialist could help explain this to you the best. You probably have Abby's 4 mos well baby chk up soon don't you? Nice to hear your craniofacial specialist blew you off...grrrrrrrrrrr. It's hard for me to say if it looks underdeveloped or not by the pictures. Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad MI > I'm having an " ear " day today. Guest guest
Christy, When my son was born, he had what the doctors called " cauliflower ear " I was told that in time it would reshape and sure enough it did! He didn't have tort or plagio. It looked a lot like your daughter's ear! > I'm having an " ear " day today. Guest guest
Hi , I know there are 2 different meanings for " cauliflower ear " one your born with and the other is common in boxers and wrestlers. My son's ear really did resemble a piece of cauliflower! It was like the top and the bottom both went inward. It's hard to explain. I know that by the time he was 3 months old, his ear was just about normal. I don't know it that stands true for all babies that are born with cauliflower ear. I'm sure some take longer to correct and some less time to correct. I looked on the internet to try and find you pictures of cauliflower ear, but I couldn't find any, sorry! > ~ > I know that I have heard the term " cauliflower ear " can you explain that more > to me? Guest guest
My husband had 'cauliflower ear' once from wrestling with our dog (yes, you heard that right). It was repaired by a plastic surgeon in an office procedure. They cut his ear open, drained it, then reshaped it by sewing in tubing inside the ear. After a while (maybe 10 days? can't remember) they took out all the stitching and his ear was normal again. It really had shriveled, drooped, and shrunk before his ear was repaired. My husband didn't even know it happened. All of the sudden his ear looked small and strange and he went to the doc. They traced it back to a blow he endured while wrestling w/ the dog. It never hurt (until the minor surgery...but the pain only lasted a couple of days). , Mom to Grant (born 9/26/01) ...in DOCband since 6/14/
