I am REALLY sorry to go sooo off topic here, but I'm in the process

of searching for a new used vehicle as my lease is ending in one

month. If any one owns or has owned a Dodge Stratus I'd love to hear

how you liked it - or didn't. I'm looking at a 1999 one right now,

but have read of head gasket problems while searching the internet,

mostly on 1995-1997 models.

I am quite a researcher now & don't want to get a lemon.

Thanks SO very much - again, sorry to go so off topic.

I had a 1997 Dodge Stratus for five years and began counting down to

the end of my lease about 1 year into it. I replaced the O2 sensor

three times, the head gasket once (which is believed to have caused

all the problems with the O2 sensor), the radio, the brakes (at

20,000 miles) the timing-belt (at 40,000), and the battery (in year

two). In the last year of my lease I spent well over $1,000 on

repairs because none of them were covered by warranty and my car

spent more time in the shop during the last six months than in my

garage.

I am soooooo glad to have the opportunity to complain about this to

someone other than Dodge!!!

Best of luck in finding a new car!
