Guest guest Posted June 8, 2006 Report Share Posted June 8, 2006 good morning all, just finished a NEW workout from MOM AND DAD!. this is the beginner/intermediate labled workout then was included in the high step package.it clocks in at 48 mins with warm-up,workouts, and cool-down. its a pretty typical style using a short cardio segment, doing a leg segment with step that provides an aerobic benefits, upper/lower compund movements, upper body, then core. it goes into 6 cycles total. the cardio using the step topper and one riser(6in) and is very short only cycling 4 times. cathe uses some of her more famous choreography(knee tap back, alternating knee hops). its pretty low impact but there are some jumps in there. the leg work uses the full 12inch step height to do exercises such as leg press, side squats/back lunge combo, and sculptors to name a few. it provides an aerobic benefit b/c the tempo of which she goes as well as the height of the step. the compound exercises uses weights to work lower body and upper body at the same time, some examples are plies with upright rows, squats with overheads, and back lunges with hammer curls. next she uses tubing( i couldn't b/c i have very short tubing but when i get a new band i will try it with the band) to work the same upper body exercise in the compound movments(so if using squats with overhead presses, you would use the tubing for an overhead press). and the last is core work some using the step and some on the floor. on this dvd as well is a 10 min bonus core workout using the ball. i believe i had this before when i had the basic step dvd that came with my home step. unlike other of cathe's dvds, this doesn't have premixes but is chaptered and does have the mix-n-match option. and even though labled as beginner/intermediate i would say its along more the lines of the intermediate workout crowd.but advanced folks can get use out it as a lighter workout or try to had heavier weights and more jumps. with my upper back and knee lately, this was a great change for a workout. btw this brings my cathe collection to 11 total LOL. i really want two more and was going to order push pull/supersets but there was a fudge up in the bankbook. apperently i was going throug the past month thinking there was more then there really was b/c it took nearly a month and half for the PTO to cash a couple checks so that threw us off about $38. ggggrrrr hope you all have a nice day kassia __________________________________________________ Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
