Guest guest
Well, we're back. We had a great time. Dane cut 2 teeth and got thrush, so the first couple of days he was really Mr. Crankypants. Since he was so uncomfortable, he was hanging out on his former flat spot a lot. I wasn't worried about it, but Guy was freaking out! (we switched positions on this!). He was terrified the tort was back. He wanted me to call KKR on vacation and set up therapy for today! We went with my friend who is a dr and Guy kept asking her to check Dane's neck! Alas, he is fine. Just needed the comfort of laying on that side for a couple of days while he wan't feeling so perky! Guest guest
LOL just had to laugh Kathleen. Troopers were out but Thank Goodness they never caught Greg since his speed exceeded 80 a few times (something about not being used to the rental car and no cruise control LOL - sure likely story). Glad EVERYONE is home safe - if even a little poorer Greg " REALLY " wants to go to Hershey in 2007- but not sure if it will be possible - who knows - Donna : can you save $ for us too hahaha ust kidding love, prayers, and blessings (age 36 - dx poly @ age 3)
Guest guest
Hello. I'm not sure if I'm writing to one person or many. I happened upon this list by accident, but it may be just what I needed. I have a 14 year old daughter with Anklyosing Spondylitis and JRA. Unfortunately all her joints are affected. She is on trexall, sulfasalizine, voltaren, folic acid, nexium and we just tried flexerall but she had a bad reaction. Her blood work just came back with an elevated liver score??? Anyone else experience this?? ?? I am taking her tomorrow to have the bloodwork redone. I would appreciate any advice or any information or experience with this that you would be willing to share. thanks for your help. Marla Kathleen Bender <kathleenbender@...> wrote: We're back too! We got back home to FL around 9:30 last night. Unfortunately, we were making a little too good time....we brought home an extra gift from the GA highway patrol.....Shoot...neither of us has had a ticket in like 15 years....guess we can't say that anymore! Hubby was doing real good keeping an eye on his speed too....but the trooper clocked him for that few seconds before he realized and slowed down....right at the speed that the ticket cost goes from $199 to $339 (of course!) Oh well.... I enjoyed meeting Robbin, , Michele, Terri, Alia and some others who I apologize but can't remember all of the names right now. It was great to put faces with names. Alia, when you get a chance can you email me the information I need to order more bracelets from you? They're going over well here! Thanks! Kathy We're back! It was late last night when we pulled into home but we are safely back in KY. What a great weekend! I am sure I did not meet everyone from the list and apologize if I didn't get to you but it was such a fast pace and so many old friends to see and new ones to meet. It was an incredible pleasure to spend the time I did with those I managed to locate. I did see , Kathy, , , Robbin, Kim, Liz, Alia, Helen and Terri!! Not bad considering I went to no parents sessions!! Helen...I hope Nick got to feelin better and that you guys had a safe trip home. ...it was such a pleasure to see you again, catch up and meet precious Destiny, who I think I had a crush on my hubby, lol- I will post the pics! Liz, Matt was so upset to leave AJAO....he misses and the gang so much! I know they will be in touch! My husband really enjoyed meeting so many people who understand our life and my condition and has suggested we start a AJAO 2007 savings account so I am doing that today! I hope to see everyone in 2007! Hang tight, Hang tough! Donna
Guest guest
Oh, my goodness as if AJAO was not expensive enough without the added bonus of a speeding ticket and to the tune of $339. are you serious. I've not had a ticket in years and thought tickets were much less then that. Whoa. Well you were looking for memories and that is just an added one that you were totally not expecting. Guest guest
Yep...$339. We didn't know how much it would be.... not that this matters, but we were keeping up with the rest of traffic.....they could have picked just about anyone and ticketed them....it wasn't like we were weaving in and out of traffic, or even passing anyone...and the roads were busy. It just happened to be us he chose to stop. We should have known better, though, because we are from FL and GA is known to be full of speed traps...hubby said he knows exactly where they clocked him...it was going downhill and he glanced at his speed and saw how fast he was going and immediately slowed down, but it was too late. Luke (4 years old) kept asking why we stopped....I don't really know how we got his attention diverted from that.. Kathy Re: We're back! Guest guest
Robbin, It was great to meet you and , too. Sorry things were a bit crazy with my family....seemed like we were going from one being sick to the next. Everything is back to normal now, though. Mark and Luke are both doing better. I wonder if they got some kind of 24 hour bug or something. Even is doing great....remember how she wouldn't stand on that right leg Saturday and Sunday? Well, this morning she got up and I let her loosen up a bit, gave her some breakfast after a bottle and her Naprosyn and she just got up and started running around like crazy....limping still a little, but definitely not collapsing on her knees like she was before. So I think maybe she just overdid it a bit on Friday with all of the activity and the late evening. We started her on the organic milk as Deidre suggested and she can't tell the difference, so we'll keep up with that....I figure it can't hurt, right? I'll have some pics to send/post probably tomorrow. I'm bumming that I didn't bring my camera for the closing parade on Sunday. If anyone got pics of the kiddos (0-1 year olds and 4-5 year olds especially) I would love to get copies of any my kids are in....they did so good.... was clapping for everyone and having a great time, and Luke came in waving and smiling like a movie star! It was a real moment in time for us! Kathy Re: We're back! Kathy, Glad to meet your family. Ummmmm With the speeding ummmm GA will get you. mentioned doing 80 ohhhhhhhh lordy. Ok I would have been the car who y'all got behind and said ok what is wrong with this lady. She is driving a sporty type car ummmm It should go faster than that. lololol. I stay alive at 55 lolololol. You might catch me at 60 but not any faster. Sorry guys I am not one to go fast. Maybe it is my age or what I have seen and learned over the years. But 55 is comfy for me. I love life in the slow lane. I am wild out of the car though lololol But settled to life watching it go by slow. Sorry y'all got a ticket though What part of Ga did you get it? Well off to Target grrrrrrrrrrrrrr another 2 hours in a store. lolololol. Guest guest
Hi Kathleen, I believe that we met you at AJAO. Our daughter Delaney and Luke, I believe made good friends at the orientation session. We also met Robbin and as we were about to leave and we sat with Mikki, , Molly and during the opening dinner. Sorry that it has been so long since we were on this board. Between business trips, vacations, family weddings, etc., I have fallen behind. 3,340 e-mails behind to be exact, but I promise to keep up henceforth. AJAO was a wonderful experience and we were able to network with many of the fellows to publicize the need for a Ped Rhumy here in Alabama. Loved the Father's networking meeting as well. Special thanks to Mrs. Cam and Mrs. for all of their hard work with the 2-3 yr. olds. Another nice caveat was that we were able to schedule Delaney's appointment with Dr. Vogler at Emory on the Thursday before the confence started and so far, so good with the Aristospan (steroid) injection in her knee that she got back in January. We go back in November. BTW, today, July 18th, is Delaney's 3rd birthday. Brad Casselman... --- Kathleen Bender <kathleenbender@...> wrote: > Robbin, > It was great to meet you and , too. Guest guest
Brad, I remember your family now....yes, Luke and Delaney really hit it off. Happy Birthday Delaney! Glad to hear the injection is working out well for her. We anticipate 's rheumy will be recommending injections for at least some of the larger affected joints next week at her visit. I met so many people, it's now hard to keep all of the names straight, who was on the list and who wasn't, etc. Hopefully, we'll be able to make it to Hershey. Guest guest
Hi Kathy, isn't the closing awesome albeit very emotional! Guest guest
Thanks Donna! You are right about the closing being emotional. But...my emotions were all over the place through the entire conference. I was talking with hubby about it, and although it seems like so long ago that was diagnosed, it's only been 2-1/2 months.....I guess we've just been so wrapped up and focused in all of it that it wasn't until we started talking to other parents at the conference that we stepped back and realized how " fresh " this all still is to us. Guest guest
, I do remember meeting Greg in the elevator. If you want me to confuse you more, we actually live right off of 280 in Chelsea, but since the town is growing so fast, we are serviced by the Sterrett post office which is 12 miles away even though the Chelsea post office is only 1 mile away. Isn't government efficient. As to Alabama events, we will be attending Camp MASH (Make Arthritis Stop Hurting) in August in Mobile. Hope that all is well and that you made it back OK. Guest guest
Brad, Hope y'all have an AWESOME time at camp MASH!!!!!! Sterrett or Chelsea at least we are within 100 miles of each other - which is pretty close neighbors in this group. I am changing rheumatologists and my new one will be at Med Center East in Centerpoint so we'll be traveling south at least every 6 months and we LOVE the Thrift Stores all around B'ham area LOL love, prayers and blessings , Greg & Destiny
Guest guest
Kathy, When I went to my first conference my daughter was diagnosed 1.5 years prior. I remember very vividly how raw my emotions were, and I cried thru lots of sessions. My friend Sheila remembers very vividly because I couldn't leave the mothers networking session. I was too choked up to look around, and I sobbed at the very end. The acceptance of this does get easier. We all get frustrated, and we have all had tears with this disease. We attended our 3rd conference. I think is as much informational as therapeutic for our family. Hopefully in our lifetime we will have tears of joy because there will be a cure! and Allie (10 poly) ________________________________ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Kathleen Bender Sent: Tuesday, July 18, 2006 6:10 PM Subject: RE: We're back!
