Well I went to CT for the evaluation. The measurements were done on

all three. We discussed it and he said they were too old. But their

adjusted age helped(they were 11 weeks early)make it possible. I

would love to have the bands for all three babies...but since Ciara

is the worse and still has the soft spot we decided to only get the

band for her. He said the place in AZ still has to approve Ciara's

band and sometimes they turn away patients that old(22 months(as of

July 1st 23 months)). So I'm hoping Ciara can still get one. I'm

dealing with a lot of guilt with not being able to help the other

two. I'm hoping their heads will continue to correct on their own.

After they told me that Adara and Danyon wouldn't qualified for a Doc

Band I was so sad. I'm kicking myself for not doing more

earlier...ugh..such GUILT! With Adara her head looks Sooo lop-sided

to me. Is this really how her head will look when she is 16? Will it

correct over time?

So right now Ciara will be casted for the band on July 10th and they

will fedex it so Ciara can start wearing it soon since she's already

so old.

He said Ciara may only get 1-2% correction(ugh) but he's hoping she

will surprise us and her head will round out even at this age and the

correction amount will be great. He said it would be even more of a

gamble with Adara and Danyon(no soft spots left)...that's way we

decided against it with them....so I'm sad.

Ciara's Band will cost us $3700-ugh. We are going to set up a payment

plan for it. If the band works it will all be worth.

So I'll keep you guys updated on what happens.

Also why is that when I put Adara in front of a mirror her head looks

a LOT worse than when I look at her normally?

Just dealing with a lot of mommy guilt for not helping them

sooner.....sob sob.

Lora

P.S This weekend we went to the Triplet Convention in So. California.

Did you see us on the news? Also People's Magazine took our photo.

But they werent sure they would use it or not. But they might! I'll

let you know if they print the article about the convention.

Lora,

Just wanted to say that you are being way to hard on yourself- I feel that at

each well baby check-up, a Doctor could have approached this with you,

especially since a good ped will know that multiples and premies are

susceptible to plagio. I have only the internet to thank for my limited

education, so your doing your best to get online and figure out what's going

on as well- blame your Doctor for making you do that! I hope Ciara will

benefit from the band- but regardless, your triplets are cuties and don't

worry about the past, look forward and enjoy those babies- this is important,

but its still relatively small to deal with considering what other children

endure (ok group, I'm not saying its just cosmetic- don't shoot me :))))

Good luck and please keep us posted on how its going with Ciara- and your

other 2 cuties as well!

Lora,

I know its easier said than done, but don't be too hard on yourself!

You did everything you could with the knowledge you had at the time!

Its very frustrating when the medical communtiy that we rely upon,

consistently let us known when it comes to seeking treatment for flat

heads. I commend you for getting Ciara a DOCband, I think most would

have accepted defeat due to an older age. You are a wonderful mom

who is doing a great job!

I'm sorry to hear that they only expect for 1-2% correction,

hopefully Ciara will surprise you all.

Ok, I must cut this short, both my twins are hitting me in the head

(which explains so much about me!). We're a lovely family, really!

My hats off to you and your triplets!!

Lora,

PLEASE try to not be so hard on yourself (((((((((Lora)))))))))). I

hope they will approve Ciara's band and that she surprises you! You

depended on your pediatrician to monitor the health of your children

outside what parents usually look for (fevers, diet concerns, etc.)

Please don't beat yourself up. You have a TREMENDOUS job (*raising

triplets!!! WOW!!!) and you are doing a GREAT job at it!

Lora:

First, how exciting about the possiblity of being pictured in People

Magazine! That would be so great! You'll have to let us all know,

I'm a People Mag. nut! I love it. I'm glad you had a nice time at

the convention. It's gotta be nice to be around other triplet

parents who can relate to you (kinda like our board!).

Second, all of us have the same question " why does my baby's head

look so bad when looking at it in the mirror???? " .....I really don't

know why, but that's a very common question around here. I think it

was Niki who once said that it's becuz it's on the diff. side than

what we're used to looking at your child with, so maybe that's it? I

really can't answer that, but I still notice my daughter's flatness

so much more while looking at her in the mirror.

And finally, do NOT beat yourself up about any of this. You have

done all the research and effort in finding your children help on

your own. I'll simply second EVERYTHING Niki said in her excellent

reply.

I also hope that Ciara will grow & grow when she gets her band

in.....you know just how brave & strong she already is...I'm sure her

head will even out more than 1-2% while in her band.

Let us know if Phoenix will approve her receiving the band. Good

luck..don't beat yourself up any more!!!!

Lora,

Don't feel bad - I know, easier said then done! You should not feel guilty -

your doctor should have been aware of the increased risk for plagio in

multiples and been right on top of the situation!

I hope the band will help Ciara - I'll keep my fingers double crossed for

her! Please keep us posted.

Lora do not feel guilty you are a great mommy doing what you can- there is a

lot to be said about the power of prayer and things happening for a reason -

do what you can and hopefully you will see some rounding out as they get

older- my sister dawn has ear and facial asymmetry we never noticed it until

I became the head police with my own family. girls have an advantage lots of

hair-just do what you can and know that you are a great mommy. Heck how you

manage triplets is a miracle in itself. I am sorry you are disappointed and

frustrating and feeling badly but it really is OK.
