My daughter is getting a Starband this Tuesday. I have read articles

that say that the Starband has not been proven to be effective,

unlike the DOC Band. I'd like to know if anyone has had experiences

with the Starband, either good or bad.

HI there:

Good luck with your daughter's STARband tomorrow! Let us know how it

goes.

Did you interview the orthotist prior to getting her casted? Asking

if he/she has good experience in treating plagio babies with the

band?

The key to getting good improvement with the STArband is getting a

good, experience orthotist. My daughter rec'd her STARband at age 8

mos., wore her STARband nearly 3 mos with no success, the band

actually did more harm than good to her head due to incorrect

pressures being applied. Abby's orthotist was not very experienced,

therefore we had a bad story.

As long as you are comfortable with your orthotist, then you should

be ok. Keep a close eye on progress, take wkly photographs of your

daughter's head to compare, and don't be afraid to ask any question.

Please let us know how tomorrow goes - best of luck!

Hello and welcome. I just wanted to welcome you to the group. My daughter

didn't use the STARband, but I'm certain that you are going to hear from a

bunch of other people who were very happy with the STARband. The key is to

interview the ortho and make sure you are working with someone who is

experienced and skillful with the product.

Best of luck and we would love to hear more from you!

Both of my twins wore STARbands to help correct their plagiocephaly.

My son wore his for three months, and my daughter for four months. I

honestly couldn't be happier with the results that they have

received. To look at them now, no one would know that they didn't

always have such beautiful heads! The key to any product, whether it

is a STARband, DOCband, or locally made helmet, is the experience and

knowledge of the orthotist. If your ortho is experienced and you

feel comfortable, then I see no reason why you can't have a happy

ending like us too! Good luck on Tuesday, let us know how it goes!

Hi There-My son Ian is currently in a STARband and is doing great. I

think the key to any band is your ortho. I am convinced we have the

best, he is very patient, understanding, and very metalicous when it

comes to fit issues. We have a great relationship and he is very

open to our concerns. We have had ours 7 weeks and luckly we didn't

have to go through the casting procedure we got to go through a

scanning procedure which is very quick and not the least bit

painful. Once his head was scanned we were able to see a 3D version

of it on the computer which showed very clearly his plagio. My son

has extreme severe plagio, his measurements are off the charts for

severe.

Good luck and keep us posted

Tamara,

I think your doing a great job at being a very concerned and loving mom, that's why your here, and that's why you have been repeatedly trying to get things moving! You still have a great window of growth to happen, so look to the future and on to rounder shapes! Good luck to you all and please keep us posted on how it goes!
