Guest guest Posted April 21, 2006 Report Share Posted April 21, 2006 good morning, internet service went down last night so i didn't post my workout. i started with a warm up from 10 min solution's kickbox dvd, the arms and shoulders sculptor. i like this mini workout using dumbbells to enhanced the punches. i find it quite effective as a warm up for upper body workouts. i did 38 mins. of upper body work on the total gym.major shoulder DOMS from the front raises. we did a little spring cleaning so its easier to get my total gym out more often. i felt guilty that i had it and barely used it, but its a great to substitute some cable exercises using it. really mixes up the workout so i am getting less bored with workouts. it even has a bar to do "chin-ups" or "pull-ups" still using the body weight but just not as much. i will probably refer to them us the total gym chin-ups and pull-ups. it does the trick and i don't have to spend anymore money right now for a pull-up bar. i am also tryiing to modify some pilates exercises on it so i can get a reformer like workout. anyway, after the total gym i went for a 32 min run. i was pretty steady in my speed and probably only hit 60% of my heartrate. it was a good workout week so i didn't try to make it a race. i haven't really calculate distance as of late just trying to aim for 30-40 mins for cardio effect rather then trying to turn into a distance runner. still would like to try a 5k for the heck of it though,just to say i did it. no yoga tonight. dh is has NO days off until thursday so we went to the store to stock up so i don't run out of anything before then. this thursday coming up is viola's field trip and i will be going with her this time around. they are visiting booker t. washington museum and the homestead creamery.so its alot of walking in my future LOL, but i think this time i should be there for any meltdowns b/c the cows up close might scare viola. well just finished a sugar free energy drink to help wake me up this morning. ihave a short firm workout out but might add on a little more if i can. i plan on going to dad's today even though it might rain, we will try to hit the park if it looks good. he came home last night after a round of chemo and some additional test to see if these treatments are working. a few months ago they said they were impressed with the progress but this is a serious cancer and although treatable not a common case. not many get this case of lymphoma, leg alone in these advanced stages. but his chin is up so i try to be too. well sorry so long again LOL. check back later if i can get some yoga or pilates in. i would hate to miss two days in a row of yoga. have a great day kassia Messenger with Voice. It looks like a really nice and versatile piece of equipment. As for energy drinnks - mine is just plain old coffee. Oddly, I don't drink it before my morning workout. I really have a hard time eating or drinking before my workouts first thing in the morning. I do have my coffee afterwards though. I am trying to cut back and just have half the amount I uusually do. Guest guest Posted April 21, 2006 Report Share Posted April 21, 2006 hi donna, dh got me the total gym from a yard sale for $75, it was the older model. its okay to use to vary the workouts, kind of like doing a cable workout. the only things i don't like is its a nuisance to set and does take up space,you can only use one leg at a time with the leg rope,and if you vary strength in body parts like me you have to stop and re-adjust the resistance. other then that it was worth the $75. like i said i will adpapting some of the pilates exercises from the pilates book i read to use on the gym. since its an older model nobody else really wants it so i mind as well make some use of it. kassiaDonna M-P <donna112520@...> wrote: Great workouts, Kassia!!Tell me more about the total gym - I've always wantedone.
