Guest guest
AJ just got his starband today. He does nothing but cry and hes only had it for 5 hours. He is so sweaty I dont know what to do with him. I want to rip the thing off his head yet at the same time I know I doing whats best for him. How long did it take your babies to get used to it. Did any of them not get used to itat all. God I hate this. I didnt know it was going to be so hard. Please Help. Any encouragement and stories would really help. Guest guest
It might take a few days for AJ to adjust- but just make sure in the mean time that he is as comfortable as possible- dress him light, keep him as cool as possible and be sure to wipe that sweat away until his body adjusts to the new temp.- this could cause a heat rash if not wiped every 3 hours or so to avoid excess moisture. I hope AJ starts getting used to it- but keep an eye also on the fit, the first week is really a testing stage, to see how well it fits and what adjustments need to be made. Could it be too tight? Any red marks that aren't going away? ' Mom
Guest guest
Hang in there Mom-trust me it gets easier. We have had a afew accounts of babies that didn't adjust but most of the time they do-are you checking aj's head every hour or two for red spots and does he have any? Look at his ears as well and see if the band might be rubbing there -- first rule out that there isn't any excess pressure that needs to be adjusted and then go from there. How old is Aj? old enough to know there is something bizarre on my head:-) We introduced a bunch of new and exciting stuff to the first few days he had his helmet onto keep his mind off thehelmet so diversion may be a good tactic as well. The sweating is horrible-not much you can do about that as their little bodies adjust it will decrease. We kept a fan ceiling or table on at all times and even had a clip on one for the stroller to help with that. Take the band off every hour and wipe that head down and that will help-dress him lightly and no socks or shoes if possible and that should help. These first few weeks are hard as you get used to the band and develop a routine but it does get easier. Take it one hour at a time and you will get through his trust us! Please keep us posted and hang in there's ending positive vibes your way! beck
