Guest guest
Hi, Well, we picked up 's band this morning after waiting over 2 weeks for it's arrival. It seemed " big " when we first picked it up but I know that's common. is almost 11 months old and they believe it will almost be a certainty that she will open the velcro strap and try to remove the band. I appreciate the honesty. They told me that we may have to use a heavy tape but we'll see how it goes. Well, in the car on the way home - sweet manages to taker her band off without even opening the velcro. Guess the fit is lousy. Guess I'm going back aleady. I put a call in to the orthotist and waiting for a call back. I don't have much confidence in them at this point! Thanks for listening, Dina and (11 months)
Guest guest
Dina: Sorry to hear about your bad start! I can't remember, what kind of band is wearing (STAR or DOC)? I wouldn't say it is almost a certainty that she'd be taking her band off on her own, although she already did it . A lot of kids, mine included, began their treatment " older " and never attempted to remove their bands. Hopefully just pulled hers off becuz of how loose it is. Like you said, it is common for bands to be loose in the beginning along with some shifting, but 's definitely sounds TOO big if she was able to pull it off w/o loosening the velcro. Adjustments in the beginning are very common as it takes lots of trips back to the clinic to get the perfect fit. I hope your orthotist has already gotten back with you & can get you back in today yet. Let us know - good luck. Guest guest
Hi Dina, Don't lose all confidence in your ortho yet. It might take a few adjustments to get the fit just right. It might take a couple of trips back to the ortho within the first week or so to get it to fit properly. I hope the ortho will be able to address your concerns and you can get that band back on her head. Let us know how it goes!
