Wow, sounds like you had a lousy appt with this " specialist " . What

you do from here is entirely up to you & your family. BUT, you sound

pretty uncomfortable with what this specialist did or didn't do. It

never hurts to get a 2nd opinion. Most specialists at least take

photos, he didn't do that either?

I think I remember you saying you were pretty far from the Cranial

tech office in Miami, FL.. If not, maybe you could go there and see

what they recommend or suggest. Their # is 866-596-2744. They might

also have a different specialist in your area they could refer you to.

Let me say, the band is NOT uncomfortable to children. Yes, there

are rare cases when the baby does not like the band. But for the

most part, most kids never even know it's on their head :).

Let us know what you decide. Sorry you had such a lousy appt :(

Hi Charlotte,

I too am in sort of the same position as you. I took my daughter to 2

different neurosurgeons. The first one said my daughters head was

perfect. It's not,far from it. The second one said she has mild-

moderate flattening of the right occipital with mild-moderate

shearing of the right ear. But that a helmet/band wouldn't add

signigicantly to the ultimate recontouring of the calvarium. And that

she would be fine when she enters grade school. I emailed cranial

technologies a picture of my daughter and then I called them and

spoke to Carol. She said it looks like my daughter would be a

candidate for the DOC band. I have an appointment this Thursday with

them. If they say she'll benefit from a band, I'm going straight to

my pedy and having her write me a script. If she won't I'm going to

switch doctors! I'm shocked at how little some of these doctors know

about plagiocephaly. Are you near a CT clinic? If so you can make an

appointment for a free consult.
