Guest guest
Hi, actually i also have had a smimular experience for the last 4 years , doing well on the same amount of spiro, not until the past 3 months did i have a change in symptoms, which now will make me pursuit furthur treatment. I had new MRI revealed a second tumor, Just keep doing well!!!! It is nice to hear others doing well! Peace, Pam from texas! catma1162 <beecathy@...> wrote: My adrenal tumour (about 15mm - I forget actually) is on my left adrenal,I take 50mg spiro a day. now, I'm not sweating/losing hair/concerned about my potassium (Was fine at Christmas when I last saw Consultant). I don't take my BP much (except when I see GP for other stuff)as it's fine. I'm not worried about what I eat, I just eat healthily but not to any plan. I'm not having crises of any kind, losing strength or mobility. I sleep well, I'm not depressed,I travel around to strange places with no ill effects,I have a full time Job and have had 3 days off sick in 4 years (for tracheitis), in fact I don't really think about my condition at all except to remember my tablet once a day. Is this normal?? Compared to everyone elses stories where Conn's seems to be a real daily burden and impacts on every part of life and health am I a rare event? Is this because I'm in the UK? Our approach to healthcare is different, we don't have to worry about who to see/where to go.... we don't expect to have chapter and verse on every little particle of our blood tests, just it's OK or it's not..... I just feel so starkly in contrast to the posts I read here. I really don't think of myself as sick. Just curious
Guest guest
You appear to have early Conn's and trust you have read my evolution article. You would fit in the personal aldosteronism group. Some evolve faster than others for reasons we do not yet know. DASHing clearly lowers symptoms, no sodium no HTN or low K etc. CE Grim MD On Jun 21, 2008, at 4:03 AM, Pam Parrott wrote: > Hi, actually i also have had a smimular experience for the last 4 > years , doing well on the same amount of spiro, not until the past > 3 months did i have a change in symptoms, which now will make me > pursuit furthur treatment. Guest guest
catma1162, I think it is wonderful that you are doing so well. I do not think that the mode of healthcare delivery has anything to do with the severity of one's disease. Because we are able to obtain all our records, go to any physician we please, and do our own study, it cannot be concluded that we make ourselves sicker. I have had too many wrong diagnoses to trust any physician to take care of me. I spent 14 years on powerful NSAIDS for a disease I never had. That was back when I believed my doc when he said something was okay or it was not. Whether in the UK or US, one out of every two physicians graduated in the bottom 50% of his or her class We have another member on the board from the UK. He just had an adrenalectomy without AVS and is now having symptoms again. He didn't get prior AVS because the all-knowing powers wouldn't allow it (or didn't want to spend the money on it). If you remember, Helen in Scotland was not allowed to have the pathology report of her adrenalectomy and now, the superior, all-knowing powers have lost it. I say " phooey " to a system that treats people like stupid children. Anyway, that's my rant for the day. I'm happy you are doing well. Guest guest
Except for Yale which does not grade medical students at all so all graduate in the top 100% (or lower 100%). OTHO I would suspect that most Drs graduated from the upper 10% of their college class. Guest guest
I was diagnosed in 2003, after a while of being treated for hypertension. I've had an AVS (on the natioanl health, my hospital/Consultant quite keen for me to have it as imaging back then couldn't pick out the tumour. Had a scan aout 18 months ago and saw the little blghter for the first time! So 5 yrs on and alls well. I'm not rushing to any surgery, the spiro works fine. Sorry to hear that you have had a second tumour - what chabges did you notice first which prompted looking again?? Guest guest
I feel as you do: if I didn't know that I had a tumor, low potassium and HBP, I wouldn't know there was anything wrong with me. I just started on spiro 50 mg once a day. After a couple of 3 weeks, I'm supposde to go have bloodwork done and see where my K and Chem 7 are at. I'm curious to know how many times a day you take spiro. Also, any menstrual irregularity on it? I will open that question to other ladies here as well -- any weird period changes that I should be concerned about? My adrenal tumour (about > 15mm - I forget actually) is on my left > > adrenal,I take 50mg spiro a day. now, I'm not sweating/losing > > hair/concerned about my potassium (Was fine at Christmas when I last > > saw Consultant). Guest guest
BP should be going down in 1-2 weeks. Trust you are also DASHing? Guest guest
i take 50mg a day usually in the morning but if I forget then in the evening. I've always had rather irregular periods so I can't say I've noticed anything different and as i am in my mid 40's my endocrinologist bangs on about being on the cusp of menopause. I'm ignoring that.
