Guest guest
Hi, Everytime I do a spot check on , on her forehead on the right is a red spot. It fades very quickly 10 to 15 minutes. I'm confused. I was told to check her every 3 to 4 hours. It's there everytime. She's losing an hours worth of wear time. Is the spot supposed to be there? Is it anything for me to worry about? She's not yet sleeping in her band, because yesterday after her hour nap there was a red spot on her left cheek. She did sleep on her left side though. It took 55 minutes to go away. I'm afraid to let her sleep in it because if it took 55 mins to go away after only an hour of sleep, how long is it going to take to go away after sleeping all night on her side? I know she got the spot on her cheek because she slept on her side. It's not there during the day and night when she is awake. Am I making any sense? I hope you all know what I'm trying to say. Any and all input would be GREAT! Thanks, )
Guest guest
That happened with with his first band, especially if he slept in one position for a long time. And also it seemed he would get a pink spot at his pressure point during the first couple of months. As long as the spot went away in less than an hour which it always did I popped him back in it. With I think some of the pink spots were him banging his helmet into things like a battering ram. The only time did not sleep in the band is if he had a high fever of over 101. I would bring it up with the orthotist at your next visit or give them a call now to ask about it. You don't want to consistently leave your baby out of the band for any length of time because they will get growth where the pressure points are and that will cause possible skin breakdown. A friend of mine left her 5 month old baby out of the band consistently 3 hours every night against the orthotist's recommendations and found after a month or so he was getting bruised at the pressure point spots because he was growing where he wasn't supposed to. Guest guest
: Like the other replies you've rec'd, they always told me, as long as the pink/red spot goes away w/i the one hour off period, that it's ok. It could possibly need an adjustment, so give the office a call Monday morning & explain this to them. They'll let you know what you should do. Guest guest
Hi . I know what you are going through. had similar problems with red spots. According to Charlotte, as long as the spots went away within the hour, it is ok to wear the band overnight. If they took longer, she recommended that I continue skin checks and not put him in it overnight. After a few days, I noticed the red spots fading quicker and quicker. There are always red spots when I take off the band, even now. I was concerned about a dark spot he had this morning. It didn't go away in the time I had it off to do his exercises hour but it was faded to almost gone. I think it was from him sleeping on it. Charlotte said that by now (day 10) as long as there are not any unusual spots, it is ok to put the band back on. She said to keep an eye on this and if the spot continues, to keep it off and call her. She said to expect red spots and that some will be there at one check and not another. She said that is perfectly normal. I, too, am concerned about the time out of the band. He doesn't complain so I know he is not in any pain. I guess red spots are to be expected if the band is applying pressure - at least we know it is working! If you have any doubts, call Charlotte. She is great about getting back and she really does put your mind at ease and help you make the determination of putting it on overnight. Good luck! You are on the road to correction! ann/ NJ DOCband 10 days > > > Message: 21 > Date: Fri, 05 Jul 2002 20:13:04 -0000 > From: " stripes6060 " <taime@...> > Subject: I need some help...please! > > Hi, > Everytime I do a spot check on , on her forehead on the right > is a red spot. Guest guest
Hi ann, Thank you for your reply! 's spots are going away in under an hour. I didn't put her to sleep in it tonight. I'm going to check after her nap tomorrow and if all is well, I'll try and have her sleep in it tomorrow night. If she has the spot on her cheek after her nap, then I'm going to call Charlotte on Monday and not have her sleep in it until Charlotte oks it or adjusts the band. I think you and I are both very lucky to have Charlotte as an orthotist. She is great. I'm so comfortable with her and so is . I'm so happy that is doing so good in his band!! > Hi .
