What a cutie is! He's a doll. I may be seeing things, I have this problem, but does he have any problems with torticollis on the left side? He looked a little, very little tilted, and I did notice that the right back looked a little flatter than the left side- is this the case? Have you heard of torticollis- a tight neck muscle? Let me know if any of this applies, otherwise its just me looking for tort as usual (which is very treatable with pt!!).

Thanks ...

Yes, his right side of his head is flatter than the left..it used to be worse..but it seems to be getting better since we started the repositioning (which we've been doing for 3 weeks now). But yes, his whole back of his head is flat...

I did hear of torticollis..and i do think he may have it slightly..but he does look both ways. When he was younger..he favored the right side..and looked mostly that way...he was able to look towards the left..but for some reason..he mostly looked towards the right. I think it has to do with when we fed him we always held him in one postiion and to look at us he would have to turn his head to the right.

Thanks for saying he's cute though!! :) I think so too..lol..but i'm pretty biased..lol.

The specialist we went to said that would probably be in the helmet for 6-8 weeks..so i guess that's not that bad. If the dr says he needs it...i will definitely get it for him....and if he says there's been a big difference from last time (which i do think in 3 weeks there has been a change..but probably not enough)...then i will probably wait a few weeks and see..but not wait much longer. Most likely though the dr will agree he needs the helmet..he pretty much said so..

My next appt is July 10th....

Thanks so much for your opinion!!

Thanks Debbie.

I was hoping he was mild..even though i figured that wasn't the case....but oh well..lol.

As for what the specialist had said..he said that would most likely wear the helmet for 6-8 weeks...so i guess that's not that long...

Thanks so much for your opinion!!

Ok :

I checked out 's cute head - I was only able to get 2 of the

pictures, but I can see the flatness on his head. I would say he

would be considered maybe moderate?! That's my honest opinion! I

wish I could've seen the pics of his cutie face :(. I am having so

many computer problems today, I'm at work & am totally stressing!

It could very well be that had/has mild left tort- meaning he favors his right, therefore he has "rubbed" it so much that side gets all the pressure and flatness. Even if you fed him this way, its really not enough total time to make this type of flatness (IMO), he was probably doing this while sleeping, in bouncers, wherever, so I don't think that just in that short time of feeding, it would have made this occur. By the way, start making him look left while feeding, at the diaper table, and see how well he's doing there. Some kids with tort have great ROM, but they have a slight tilt (could be the case with ), and some kids with no ROM, don't tilt- so it gets very confusing trying to figure out what's going on. I was recently told by CT that they are encouraging parents with plagio children to do the neck exercises (i'll attach a link) because so many patients have undiagnosed tort (those exercises certainly can't hurt a questionable non-tort child, but will help greatly if tort is undiagnosed)- if is mild, this could be very quickly resolved with pt. I would check with your ped when you go for your visit, to ensure that tort is ruled out (but again, some parents have not gotten correct info from their Docs from their own lack of knowledge, and unwillingness to admit that they are uneducated in this area), so do some homework on tort and start watching to see if this may apply to him. If he has that slight tilt, always, and is favoring the right, I would guess tort. But, only you can tell as you are with him 24/7. I'll attach a few links that may help you figure it out. Good luck and please keep us posted! And yes- he's a cutie-and I'm not his adoring mother! :o)

Oh...lol..no..i didn't mean that he became flatter on that side b/c we fed him that way..lol. He definitely favored his right side..in the bouncer and sleeping...but i think what made him start to favor that side was how we fed him.

We have already been doing some neck exercises that the specialist had told us to do. And it does seem that he is doing better...he sleeps both ways now...so that's good.

Thanks so much..i appreciate all the support and advice. I really do!!

My pediatrician was great. The first 2 months..when we noticed 's head was flat..the dr totally agreed but had said let's wait and see what happens..it may fix on it's own when he starts to be on his tummy more. By the 4th month..i was going to ask her to refer me to a specialist..but she beat me to it...she said that she would like it if gets looked at by a specialist and that he may need a helmet. So that's when i went to the specialist (Dr. Hall..he's from Hackensack, NJ...did you ever hear of him? B/c he seems like he is well known). So i think the pediatrician is wonderful..she seems real up to date with knowledge...

I will definitely keep you guys updated...his appt is july 10th..so i'll let you know what the dr says...

Thanks again!!

That is so great that your ped is so wonderful- many members have not been so lucky and have had to beg for that referral- she's a keeper :) I have not heard of the Doc you mentioned but perhaps someone else from your area will respond as well.

So glad to hear that the exercises have already helped- keep up the great work! Good luck to you all and please do keep us posted on how the appt. goes!
