Guest guest
Hello everyone! Well... It's 2pm, and my day has been full of making calls! First I talked with a nurse at the plastic surgeons office, and she gave me some interesting news. Tom our current orthodist is NOT (eek!) very experienced, and that I would be better off seeing the other lady ette. Well, that's fine with me, but she's out of town, and I can NOT see her for almost two weeks! My other option is to drive three hours away to have someone else look at it, and then again have no idea their experience. No one really seems to realise that there is a big rush, so I am going to have to dig more to find who will do it. This is turning out to be such a mess, and they will NOT let my skip to a DOC band. It was only by a mirical that the insurance decided to pay for the STAR band, so I have no idea how I could pay for the DOC band. But I will definatly keep on trying, and hopefull someone will help me out! There is good news, and we have seen a bit of improvement already. The week that Dakota did wear it (part-time) he gained one cm, and his buldge isn't so big anymore. It's more rounded out in the back! Not that you can tell by pictures yet, but we are still hoping. One thing that does worry me is that I fear he is becoming flatter on the other side to, and that could be what I am seeing? No one else pays attention but me so I am on my own here. Now if only I could figure out how to get him to hold still, so I could take pictures! Lately I have been trying every night while they are in the tub, and sitting in their rings. I did put a few pictures into his own folder at this site, and plan on updating it agin soon! His red spot went away with in an hour of taking of the band last night, so that's the good news! I am so glad I ran into all the wonderful advice I recieved last night! Debbie- Before we went in for the casting the lady on the phone said it would take about five business days to get the helmet, and there were a few reasons behing this. When we first saw the plastic surgeon ette was there, and said do NOT call for atleast TEN business days. That was the wait on insurance to approve it, and usually I guess it takes longer. WEll on the tenth day I called, and no one had any info in the file! She was very clear if I called it would just prolong getting him in, and i am so mad for listening! The darn nurse had forgotten to send over the insurance info, so they were still waiting on that. Once I did find this out I had to call, and have them fax it over. Now how lazy is that! That sould have been my first clue to use a different office, but I just thought it was a fluke (HA!). So, I called, and the nurse sent it over (by fax) that day. I called the next day, and the lady said she put a rush on it. That the next day they should have a reply, and that I could come in with in an hour of it... SO.... I called, and the lady was out of town the next day. Who ever answered the phone couldn't find it, but said they had no info come in from the insurance company. For the next FIVE days I called EVERY day, and still the lady was out of town. Finally, she calls said he got approved last week, and sorry she was out of town! That five days from the casting they would have it ready, then it was a week, and then it was 1-2 weeks!!! I called EVERY day once again till it came in a month later, and they fitted it that day! By then Dakota was 7 months, and it's now been almost three weeks! So, that's our story, and would you belive it's a summed-up one? Any ways, thanks once again for all the great advice! I am so glad to have found you all, and look forward to hearing your replies! Amie, Dakota in a STAR band... Yes A STAR band , and Dayton 7months old!
