Guest guest
Lora, Glad to hear that CT was willing to go for it! I would leave Adara and Danyon at home if at all possible- if Ciara is like most kids (some Moms have said thier kids slept through it!) then she will hate sitting up with the warm plaster on or just the initial stocking over the face (holes cut out for eyes and nose- you can try playing more peekabo and see if it will help get her used to something over her face). It literally is over in about 10 minutes, they will layer strips of plaster and it will get a little warm when hardening. Anything that might console her, a pacifier, bottle, musical toy she can hear, etc. might help, and if Dad could come or anyone for moral support or just extra relief where needed would be ideal. Don't be surprised if nothing does, but again, its over so quickly and then its off to the bath tub to rinse off the plaster. It's really neat when the mold comes off, it seperates in two pieces and is really no big deal coming off. Good luck and please keep us posted! Guest guest
We are taking in Ciara tomorrow to get her casting done for her band. What should I expect? Anything I can do to calm her down during this event? Lora
Guest guest
Lora: So I guess Cranial Tech agreed to go ahead with the band, that's good news! I suggest bringing your husband or someone else to help with the casting process. Being Ciara's older, she probably doesn't have a bottle anymore, but if she still takes a pacifier, bring that along. Also take her favorite toy, blankie, loud & distracting toys too. Music might also help. It is difficult, but she'll recover quickly and get a bath afterward. Best of luck tomorrow, please let us know how it goes. Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad MI > We are taking in Ciara tomorrow to get her casting done for her band. > What should I expect? Guest guest
Hi Lora, Will someone be going with you? It helps to have one person to hold the baby and the other to provide the distractions and entertainment. If Ciara is a favorite blankie or toy you might want to take that. Also, toys that make music or noise would be good. Ciara is a little older so maybe take a favorite snack or juice in a sippy cup. Best wishes to you and Ciara - she will do great!
