Guest guest
My son has bossing of the left side of his forhead and ear misalignment. When we got his starband we had to go back for adjustments the next day. I still dont like the way it fits. It squishes his eye brow down so that its hard for him to open that eye. Is this normal because of the bossing? Hes had it for 1 week and still is only wearing it 12 hours a day. He doesnt act like himself when its on. He stops laughing and playing and he cries all the time when he has it on. As soon as we take it off hes back to his normal self. The red spot on his forhead is small and doesnt look like it can be causing him any pain.

Is this normal because of the bossing? Hi and , No- this should not be so far down or tight that its hindering his eyesight. My son also had some bossing going on, and all that should be taken care of by the helmet, above the eye- we did get a few trims because of the very same reason. The red spot should be going away within an hour, if its not- this needs an adjustment- too much time with that red spot could create an open sore because there is too much pressure on that spot. I would get an appt. asap- not only to address the eye and red spot problem, but just to make sure that its not to snug and making your little one miserable. It never hurts to ask tons of questions- so bombard them with your concerns and start getting answers- even if you have to go in for a visit. Most kids do well with the band, but there are some kids that do not adjust as well-so it could go either way- hopefully it just needs some adjustment and maybe that trim above the eye is all that he needs to cheer up! Good luck and please keep us posted! ' Mom
Guest guest
The band definitely should not be squishing his eye at all. I also had this problem with Abby's STARband, I hated the way it squished her right eye, it made her eye look slanted. The orthotist kept telling me it was ok, BUT I knew better. After several complaints from me, he finally shaved some of the area around the eye that took care of the problem. I'd suggest you do the same with your orthotist. It sounds like the band needs another adjustment. Hopefully your son will be able to wear it more after the needed adjustment. I'm sorry he's not liking it much :'( I hope he'll get used to it. Guest guest
I'd say that it is definitely appropriate to go back in for another adjustment. It should NOT be squishing his eye as hard as you describe. The ortho needs to make it right or adequately explain to you what is causing the helmet to fit the way it does. Some babies are more tempermental about the band at first, but I've never heard of one that did not ultimately adjust. If it continues to cause him to be sad then something is surely not right with the band. Press the ortho - he is the key to making the band work. Guest guest
I would go back for another adjustment to be on the safe side- I wouldn't think it should be squishing his eye! Beck
