Does this get better? Novali will start to adjust to her new temp. in a week or so, but make sure to keep her as comfortable as possible. We also had in the band from June-August, and we tried to keep him indoors for that short 3 months as much as possible. Be sure to wipe away that excess sweat by taking off the helmet every 3 hours or so the first couple of days, this will avoid a heat rash as well as let you check for red marks. I think Beck has suggested no socks, a great idea- I know when I'm hot the socks are the first to go! Dress her cool, and try to crank up the a/c in the car before you have her in if its very hot. Good luck and keep us posted on how she's doing (and Mom and Dad too!). ' Mom
Guest guest
My Novali received her Starband yesterday. So far she seems fine, maybe a little bit sad. But she is sweating so much from under her helmet, the sweat just drips out. How do parents handle the summertime and the heat? Does this get better? The sweating will greatly diminish over the next week or 2. Right now, Novali's body temperature is adjusting to having her new band on top of her head, after a wk or 2, the sweating will greatly diminish. She'll probably still sweat, but it shouldn't be nearly as much. Abby rec'd her bands in the cool fall & winter, but still sweated A LOT for the first week or two. After that it decreased a ton Other than that, I'm happy to hear she's doing well! Keep us updated. Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad MI
Guest guest
Hello and welcome. I'm glad to hear that Novali is in the band and is doing pretty well. The sweating does become a little less after the first few weeks when the baby's body temperature adjusts to being in the band. In the meanwhile dress Novalie as lightly as possible and try to keep her in the air conditioning as much as possible. If she is sweating profusely then you can remove the band and wipe her and the band off. It should get better in a few weeks. We'd love to hear more about you and Novali if you get a chance! I'm glad you have joined us! Marci (Mom to ) Oklahoma
Guest guest
It does get better-it is always really bad in the first 1-2 weeks but then there little bodies adjust and you see it get better. Dress her lightly no socks or shoes if you can help it-or atleast airy sandals alwayshave a fan on ceiling-or table fan and they have clip on battery operated fans with spongy blades that you can clip on to the stroller and make sure she always has something cool to drink. We stayed inside most of the summer with because of the heat in the South - not much fun I know but better than a stinky band and miserable kid. Also wipe her head often to get rid of the perspiration. Ask your ortho about zeasorb powder-which can help but you really shouldn't use it unless your ortho says it is OK. We would love to know more about you and little novali(beautiful name by the way) Welcome to the board! Beck Mom to doc grad Memphis
