Guest guest
I am in Indiana but near Indianapolis. But that helmet sounds similiar to Luke's.We had to forgo the strap though cause he kept taking it off! I am pretty sure there is someone here that goes there,to New Albany.I believe she is from KY too. Good luck deciding! Kelli & Luke (1 yr.old this Sat! & 4 weeks in local helmet) Indiana -- Need advice or info about local helmet for Remy - help! Thank you for all of your caring responses to my original post about my daughter Remy. We did successfully get a referral to a pediatric neurosurgeon here in Lexington, KY. The appointment was today. The doctor said plagiocephaly is now an epidemic, that he had seen several babies today with the problem. He said that Remy's plagio was mild-moderate, with no evident facial asymmetry. He also said that he would be happy to write a prescription for a helmet, but that he had seen mixed results with them, and that he felt plagio was a purely cosmetic issue. The prescription has been written, and the choice is now left up to us. The doc band clinic is 6 hrs away, and this doctor refers patients to the Center for Orthotic and Prosthtic care in New Albany, IN. The doctors/orthotists there are O' and Havens. The pediatric neurologist gave us a handout from this center. These are local helmets that are made at that facility. These helmets come with adjustable straps (?) that the parents adjust, not the orthotist. The helmet costs $1595 if insurance accepts them, otherwise I could pay $1100 up front. Could anyone let me know if they have heard of, or have used this local helmet? Does anyone else have a local helmet that was adjusted by the parents? Are there any other local helmets that anyone would recommend in or near Kentucky? Remy is 7 mos and 1 week today, so I would like to make an appointment tomorrow SOMEWHERE to get the ball rolling. Thank you,Christie (mother of Remy)For more plagio info
