Guest guest
Hi Welcome to the group!! I am pretty new myself. I am soooooo happy to see you have researched this and know as much as you do about it already. You are in a great position (age wise) to do something about it. Good luck to you at your appointment and be sure to let us know how everything turns out! Kristi (4) and (9 1/2 mos) OH PS - I don't think you're worrying too much at all - you are his mother and his advocate. Guest guest
Thank you Kristi! I really appreciate it. I'm glad I found some support! Chris > Hi > > Welcome to the group!! Guest guest
Hi Welcome to the group. I too see what you see in Mack's pictures. He's sooooo cute! I'm new here too so I don't really have any advice for you, all I can tell you is to STAND YOUR GROUND!!! Don't let your doc put you off. You should check out the bookmarks section (on the left) there's a file in there all about repositioning. I think with Mack being so young, you'd get great results! Also you might want to check out the torticollis file in there also, it has alot of information. Good luck and please keep us posted. Again welcome, > Hi there, > > My name is (Chris), and I believe my 7 week old son, Mack, has > plagio and tort. Guest guest
Hi Chris! Mack is really cute. You're definitely getting on top of this nice and early. I don't think it's even possible to start helmet treatment until he is 4 or 5 months old (my doctor insisted my twins be able to hold their heads up first). So really, all you can do for now is to find creative ways to keep him off his preferred side and work on the tort (I'm no expert there). My twins both adored tummy time from the get-go (bribing them with pacifiers..probably helped this process). We did the tummy time on our bed, and lay next to them which seemed to help them settle down. Eventually they were able to nap that way..so we'd just lie there and watch them nap. Now they love it and if they get fussy now, I actually put them on their tummies to settle them down. You can also try sleep positioner to angle him so that he sleeps on the other side (I believe the files section has loads of tips). I see that you're in New Hampshire..how close are you to Boston? We live on the North shore (Topsfield) and our cranio-facial plastic surgeon is in Chelmsford -> he hasn't been overwhelmingly great, but he didn't give us any hassles about signing off on helmets. I can give you his contact information if you like. Ken Zack & Zoey's dad
Guest guest
Hi and welcome to the group! Mack is such a cutie pie!! I see that you already received some excellent and very helpful replies! I was also going to suggest that you check out our Bookmark section for info on repositioning and torticollis. You can also find some repositioning techniques here: http://www.plagiocephaly.org/support/repotech.htm Good luck to you and keep us posted! Again, welcome to the group! Guest guest
Welcome to our group Chris! So happy you found us. WOW - I must compliment you on what a great mom you sound like! You are SO on top of Mack's plagio & tort., with a wonderful webpage. Mack is very lucky to have such a great mom! Mack is also VERY cute! My daughter Abby was also stuck in the same position inutero for at least the final 10 wks of my pregnancy. That is where a lot of plagio & tort. cases begin & develop. I didn't notice a lot of flattening of Mack's head shape, did see some, but I would say it's minor. However, the ear assymetry is obvious as well as the bossing forehead. My Abby's right ear (that's her plagio side) was also differently shaped than her left, it stuck in to her skull more, whereas her left ear stuck out normally, and was in a diff. position. What you are describing are definitely all plagio symptoms. I see you've already rec'd a lot of great replies with repositioning & tummy time tips. I hope they'll help. You'll also recieve some helpful torticollis stretching tips frmo if you haven't already. She's our tort guru! My daughter did not have tort so I can't offer much help there, sorry! You also are not jumping the gun with this like your family may think! The younger the baby, the better chance of faster & best correction your child can receive, and you can hopefully avoid a helmet or band by repositioning! Good luck at your Drs appt the 29th......don't let her turn you away, demand for a referral to a specialist! If she won't give you one, then find a new ped. who will. Welcome again to our group!
