Guest guest
There is a company in town called Organicare who we plan to use. They take 3 years to wean your grass off of conventional chemicals while encouraging healthy growth. One of the most important things that we learned last year in our research was to keep your lawn at least 3 " long as that helps shade and choke out weeds naturally. It does take time to get it under control though so we decided to go with Organicare this year. Krista Krista Boos Creative Memories Senior Consultant Memory Keeping at Its Best! Organic weed & feed Hi folks, Thanks so much for all the responses to my post about organic seeds/seedling sources. You've given me a ton of resources to check out! My dh wants me to ask this wise group another gardening type question. Last summer was our rookie year to start experimenting with getting the chemicals out of our yard, etc.. He picked up an organic Weed & Feed type product that apparently didn't work at all. We have more weeds than ever. He thinks it really was a Feed for your Weeds product! Does anyone know of a product we can use to organically/naturally treat the weeds in our yard? One that really works? Thanks again for all the help, Jean
Guest guest
we haven't used a drop of herbicide, pesticide or fertilizer on our yard in 25 years and we have beautiful grass and landscaping. Using lawn chemicals is INSANE! In fact, GET ACTIVE if your neighbors use it, they are literally killing you, your kids, your pets and your trees! There is no substitute for a face-to-face talk with them so they know. (I make my own " Chem Lawn " warning signs with SKULL AND CROSSBONES saying " ASK US about how we are POISONING THE EARTH " and replace those green ones with the new 'warning " ). I also pass out literature. I don't think that there are really any lawn services that don't use chemicals even though they would have you believe that. Personally, I would never hire someone to take care of my yard. If I was " too busy " I would reevaluating priorities or home choice. It's important to get over the concept of a perfect carpet of monoculture grass. It CAN'T coexist with your family's health. It's another sick suburban notion. How to have a beautiful yard created by you: 1) RESEED grasses heavily each year (2-3X/summer) 2) AERATE 1-2X a year 3) DIG dandelions (if you want) it's fun and kids love to do it with you 4) Allow a polyculture (clovers, various grasses)-monocultures are NOT NATURAL 5) Convert the majority of your yard (except playground) to LANDSCAPING 6) COMPOST all leaves and household garbage aned spread it on lawn 7) MOW but never short, short; the 3 " rule is good for grasses. 8) Never remove lawn clippings Will
