I am also gettign weird tingles in my upper lip sometimes...and my finger tips feel burny or something...I am ALWAYS cold...and sometimes lately my face also feels like its burning, not hot so much a like burning or tingling but a bit different from pins and needles... > > Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time to read my post. Guest guest
Based on your lab tests you may have Cushing's syndrome. How did your Drs interpret these results. Did they do a Dex suppression test. Google images of Cushing's syndrome to see if you look like any of them or send picture to us to put in files so we can see if you look Cushingoid. Wouldn't worry about Thyroid tests now. The low K and irregular heart beats and peeing a lot at night suggest primary aldosteronism. But BP almost alwasy high. What is your BP? Has it ever been high? Has it changed much in last few years. Please tell us ALL meds and over the counter and herbal stuff your are taking and what you are taking it for. The ketones were likely because you were starving as you were vomiting and not eating. Indeed checking the ketones in your urine is an old way (used by the first Adkins program) to tell if you are eating a small enough amount that you will lose weight aka starving. Any EKG mention of U waves or hypokalemia? On Nov 20, 2008, at 2:10 PM, Carolee wrote: > Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time to read my post. I > have been very sick for quite some time. Guest guest
Hi, thank you for your reply, There wa sno vomiting and even though I was so severly nauseaus I was forcing down food ( even if it took me 2 hours) I made sure to eat carbs in case that was it. The ketones stayed at a very high amount. The EKG said nothing about hypokalemia, or U waves. My blood pressure has always usually been low, however in the last few years I have felt as though it was high ( a feeling of pressure in my head with headache, sometimes just lying flat on the floor in my livingroom would be the only thing that would help) When I went to the hospital the second time with the dehydration and ketones ( this is when the cardiac symptoms dissapeared for a few days) My BP was on the higher end, especially for me. I believe it was 140/90. I was surprised because even though I have only had my blood pressure taken a few times in 3 or 4 years it has always been normal/low. Doctors have blamed my cortisol levels on stress. The only stress in my life is I am too sick to do anything (grocery shopping, living a life, working outside of home, functioning), and the doctors arent helpig me, SO that diagnosis is so frustrating. This is very real and not stress related. Medication- I take no medication at this time. When my heart started to go all weird, I tried to take calcium.mgnesium.vit D. It makes me feel worse however. So I thought that was odd. I am not sure why it makes me heart feel worse and also my symtpoms of tenseness in my hands and shoulders. The tension isnt like when you're nervous or sitting at a desk, it is like the urge to move and squeze my muscles. CLench my fists and shrug my shoulders. I am not getting cramps in my hands though. I have a lot of muscle aches that come and go, But it isnt the same as when your muscle gets stuck ina position and cramps up ( always somethign I knew in the past to eat abanana or something) I am not getting cramps liek that, just liek I need to clench or my muscle is tense. The doctor prescribed me propranolol for fast heartrate ( he prescribed it days before th eheart symptoms started, because he saw on an old holter monitor that I had rapid HB) SO I took the low low dose ( I took half of a 20 MG pill)( I took this a week ago) and was so sick for 3 days I thought once again I was going to die. It seemed to effect my urine and I didnt pee as much and it turned kind of dark again, I was severly nauseated and shook alot on it. I felt liek I had been poisoned. Not a normal side effect type feeling, this was more severe. One more thing, I also find my lymph nodes have been swollen, My glands hurt and seem more swollen for the last few months. It seems to get worse on the magnesium calcium/vit d supplement. Thanks so much for helping me, Carolee > > > > > > Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time to read my post. Guest guest
Carolee, if I had all your symptoms, I would get checked for Lyme disease and Celiac Sprue disease. Do you ever remember a tick bite? My daughter-in-law had a lot of the gastro problems and was diagnosed with Celiac. She cannot have even a tiny bit of gluten. Also, when my TSH is over 4, I am very ill - very cold and fatigued. The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists has set limits of 0.3 - 3.0 but many labs have not adopted those bands. I was called " normal " for years and years and suffered all of them. I used to wear long underwear, summer and winter. I hope you are getting copies of your tests. Have you had aldosterone and renin tests? Many of us on this site have many of your symptoms and sincerely sympathize with you. Val From: hyperaldosteronism [mailto:hyperaldosteronism ] On Behalf Of Carolee Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time to read my post. I have been very sick for quite some time. I am the sickest person I know, with the best test outcome I have seen. Most of my tests come back NORMAL. I will give a quick history of my symptoms, which may or may not be related to what has been going on now. I am 26. When I was 11, I had a hep b immunization and it made me sick. I was in hosp and was homeschooled and ill since. In my lkate teens and early twenties I was a bit better. I did have a bad stomach. DIarrhea, nausea, bloatedness, gas, upset stomach, lack of appetite, feeling sick every time I ate etc. Beano helps a bit. About 2 years ago I started to get aseverly restless feeling ( not restless legs, this was different, like adrenaline running through my body, mybody almost felt liek I was buzzing from my chest throughout the rest of body) It was highly uncomfortable. Of course the fantastic doctors here diagnosed me with, you guessed it, stress and anxiety and depression. (Grrrrrrrr. I demanded for tests, and the only test (they didnt tets much) that came back abnormal was a high cortisol test (normal 170-500, mine three tests AM, came back 1200, 1257, 1087) I had a slightly high Thyroid (tsh normal 0.8-5.0 mine was 4.97, and my T3 was normal 3.5-5.8, mine was 6.3) However I have had 6 thyroid tests since and they have all been normal. I have had one positive ANA test, one negative ANA test. I go up and down. EIther I feel liek I am crawling out of my skin, I feel intoxicated with some sort of an adrenaline type feeling, pee often, shake, feel nauseated. Or I go weeks feeling the complete opposite- Tired, achy, joint pain, extreme malaise, like poison is in my body, Headache, Vertigo comes and goes (liek an inner ear infection, without the ear infection) No appetite etc. SOmetimes random symptoms that can happen at any time are not being able to eat even though empty and hungry because i feel like my whole body is tense including my stomach muscles and if I try to eat I gag and can barely swallow, headache, diarrhea, constipation alternate. So those symptoms seem to switch from one to the other. SO then September 27th of this year, All of a sudden ( I have a history of sometimes getting palpitations an drapid heartbeat) My heart started to just beat differently, I was getting tons of palpitations ( sometimes 3 a minute) skipped heartbeats, rapid heart beat, pain in my left arm and chest, dizziness with palpitations ( sometimes when I breath otu I get adizzy spell with palpitatin, breath in skipped beat with dzziness) This happens worst at night. I wake up for th epast month eveyr night with rapid heart beat in the early AM, or middle of night. So I went to the E.R, where they said its stress go home. My ECG had some changes with t waves s stuff that I dont understand. They said 'its fine' My only test that came back abnormal in the E.R was very high ketones in my urine ( I dont have diabetes). I had never heard of ketones before...overthe next few days My heart symptoms completely dissapeared (this was oct 5th) but I was so nauseas and shaking so badly and I stopped peeing I peed only a very small amount and it was dark orange. Went back to E.R High ketones, but they sent me home. I drank 8 bottles of watter a day and still felt so overly dehydrated I thought I was going to die. I bought a home ketone kit. No glucose in urine, normal glucose blood test, btu high ketones in urine. ( oh ya, when I went to E.R first time my potassium was at 3.6 normal is 3.5-5.5) Eventually I started to feel less shaky and nauseas, the ketones dissapeared ( this was about october 7th) and I peed normally again, but witht he dissapearance of the ketones, nausea, pee problems, back came my caridac issues. It is like one replaced the other. OR what ever was triggering this ( some hormone) was going up and then down. I am truly sorry fi this post is confusing, I feel there is so much information and symptoms and history and I have such little energy and tolerance anymore to keep fighting that I have to try and write it as quick as possible. I am seeing an internist, I am in canada and to get referals is impossible where I am. The medical system is failing me. I go to doctors all the time and they run the same basic tests CBC, Thyroid, GLucose. Does anyone think these symptoms, fluctuations sound familiar? Oh ya, I have a history of having to pee very much at night, but then every once in awhile it will be the opposite and I cant pee at all. Any ideas to bounce off me would be great, thanks!
