Guest guest
Hi! Please find enclosed a short letter, as minimalist as I could get in an attempt to beat the publishing deadline at the community practitioner. The Steering Committee (first meeting of)put it together today to go out to journals starting with the Community Practitioner. It is time to beat the drum a little louder. Things to think about and comment on: there is word abroad that the SENATE is about setting up in business against the CPHVA this is not the case and not the business of this forum. If it is seen as a threat that is not what it is meant to be. It is about giving professionals a voice, filling a gap if you like by offering an opportunity to comment on the direction of this very precious profession. Its about empowering people to step forward and speak about things they value and help to shape our profession in this new century. Within this frame we need to develop terms of reference stating what we are about so that people can be clear about what they are joining. I know what I am not - I am not about 'bashing' other organisations or factions of my own profession. I value openness and honesty and dont wish to see the SENATE as a clandestine operation that stands in opposition to other forces. Nursing & health visiting has over the years put a huge amount of energy into cutting down people who step forward, stand up or say something different. I have always hated that - the idea of the profession being constantly unsupportive to its own colleagues. So I am in the SENATE because I want to add to the professional voice I want to fill that gap, I want to move things forward, but I want to do it in a spirit of openness. So can we please all of us develop terms of reference and or a constitution document that offers us a foundation to do just that. I would like to know what you guys want in the foundation documents of this group.
