Guest guest
Hi Kristy, Don't give up. I had to go through the same thing. But couldn't even get in touch with my pediatrician. We had to communicate through nurses. English is my second language, and it was very frustrating to explain them that I need a prescription for a band or a referral to a neurosurgeon. When I thought they understood what I meant, they made me wait for a week and then got back to me with a name of a physical therapist... I found the name of a neurosurgeon on a plagiocephaly web-site and called his office to schedule an appointment. When we came to see him, he said that only surgery can help. I asked him about a band. He was very pessimistic about it. He dealt with some helmets, but as far as I understood never heard of DOC bands. I begged him to write a prescription. He did. All it was saying was: Helmet/band treatment is recommended. And Cranial Technologies accepted this prescription. That is my story. I hope the doctor you see tomorrow will write you a prescription. It is tough, but don't give up and fight for it. Good luck, Leana, Katya's mom (almost 18 months old, will be out of the band in 3 weeks) > well, here i am again. Guest guest
Kristi: I am hoping the neurosurgeon will go ahead & write you the rx.....let's hope so anyway. If not, then find someone who will, find a new pediatrician & move on from there. I know you want to get the band ASAP with ' age, load yourself with all the plagio & band information you can to take to the specialist tomorrow. Demand he write you a prescription. Good luck.....let us know how it goes. Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad MI > well, here i am again. I just got off the phone with a pediatrician > whom I thought was going to help me. Guest guest
Kristi, I don't remember your exact story but do you need an Rx or a referral (because of an HMO)? If you only need the Rx, maybe you can try to look for a Pediatric Plastic Surgeon in your area. I looked at CT site and for some reason, Ohio is listed but can't be accessed for physicians but there is a clinic in Cleveland and maybe they can refer you to someone who works with them for the Rx. Maybe you have already gone this route but if you haven't, I listed the center below: Ohio Straight Ahead Pediatric Physical Therapy, LLC Hillcrest Medical Bldg. 781 Beta Drive, Suite C Mayfield Village (Cleveland), OH 44143 Lepp, PT Karmel-Ross, PT, PCS Phone: 440-460-0923 Good Luck. ann/ NJ DOCband 2 weeks > > > Message: 5 > Date: Wed, 10 Jul 2002 16:18:05 -0000 > From: " jketcline " <kmccpa@...> > Subject: Pediatricians - I am starting to hate them all > > well, here i am again.
