I have also heard that Aveeno oatmeal bath as a paste is great for the dry skin- I think used it on her son's head for dry skin and it worked well in paste form. Other than the Aveeno lotion, don't have any other suggestions, sorry. One orthodist said do NOT wash the helmet with anything the other say 2-3 times a day with rubbin alcohol!? I'm not sure about locally made helmets or STARbands, but for the DOC band, once a day with rubbing alcohol at bath time is required. How long will this 'adjustment' phase last? Will it get better, or does this guy just not know what he's doing?? I think you really need to be on top of this guy- try to find out either through this Board or his past clients how they feel about his expertise. Sometimes we have to trust their knowledge, but we also have to trust our instincts- and there have been people who have had bad experiences in the hands of an inexperienced ortho that led them to believe all was well when it wasn't. Don't want to scare you, but just keep you on your toes and make sure that all of your concerns are addressed with him to your satisfaction- remember you are paying for a product and you expect a certain level of service and customer satisfaction to come along with that. I was going to post a picture of how it's pusing on his ear, but I am not sure it's going to work! Can't wait to see the pic! Hopefully you can scan one and just add as an attachment. Good luck with everything- I hope Dakota gets lots of correction! Keep us posted! Mom

Well, we got Dakota's helmet adjusted on Tuesday (last week), and that lasted till friday. When I called they were to busy to see him, so he went all weekend not wearing it! The ortodist said go to part time wear, but she didn't see how bad it was! I just kept him out of it, and took him in today (monday) to get it adjusted by the regular guy. He wasn't to thrilled about him not wearing it this weekend, and said that I was to parinoid about how it's shifting! So, tommorow I am going to see about switching to the other lady in town! As of eight hours after the adjustment it is STILL shifting, but not as bad.Now for the questions!Anyone in the Kansas City area? Wish orthodist do you see? Tom, or ette (I think that's her name!)? Is there ANY other place to go? I am under the impression there isn't!What do I do for the dry skin other that the Aveeno bath? One orthodist said do NOT wash the helmet with anything the other say 2-3 times a day with rubbin alcohol!?How long will this 'adjustment' phase last? Guest guest
, It's good to know I am not the only one fighting these everyday/otherday adjustments! NOw my next question is.. When I clean his band multiple times a it smells terribly, but when I only do once a day it's ok. Weird? Or normal? I LOVE the aveeno oatmeal bath! I suggest buying stock, because we use it daily! Weather it's dry skin, diaper rash, or simply an allergic reaction (we are having problems with solids!) to food it does the job! Thanks, Amie mommy to Dakota (STAR), and Dayton!
