Guest guest
ann - Thanks so much for all your help!! We have been to the clinic in Cleveland and have the name of a specialist in that area, but we'll need a referral so the insurance'll pay. Also, we were really hoping to find a band friendly ped in our area since we have to find a new ped anyway! I have made one last effort to locate someone in Columbus and if it doesn't pan out, then I'll transfer to a pediatrician in Cleveland (the specialist has given me some names in that area) long enough to get the referral. I hate to switch twice (my current ped is the third one I've had since my daughter was born 4 years ago!!) but I'll do whatever needs to be done in order to fix my son's head. Maybe my pediatrician problem is just me? LOL Kristi (4) and (9 1/2 mos) OH > Kristi, I don't remember your exact story but do you need an Rx or a referral (because > of an HMO)? Guest guest
These peds are unbelieveable. I so often wonder what they would do if their kids were in the same boat as ours. No Kidding ann. I have been wanting to ask my current ped that very question. Its no big deal to her because it isn't her son. I have a couple article for her and will be writing a letter to go along with them (ok its mostly written I just need to tone down my anger!!!) Hopefully she will read the articles and treat the next plagio baby she sees more seriously. I just keep thinking that ' whole flat spot could have been avoided if she had given me more info when she first recommended that he sleep in his infant carrier at night (he had bronciolitis and slept in it nap and night for 2 months - we believe this is what caused his plagio) Just telling me that it put him at higher risk would have helped. Suggesting some sort of extra padding b/w cover and hard plastic seat would have been nice. I really don't think she'd be shrugging her shoulders at her own son's flat spot (no matter how mild) By the way (since I am ranting again) where was your baby on the measurement scale. I believe you are the one who said yours wasn't as bad as many others you saw (if not, just ignore me ) was 10mm cranial vault and 8mm skull base and 6mm facial (or was it 6skull base and 8 facial?) Anyway, we were told this was border line b/w mild and moderate. Based on many of the measurements I've seen people posting - really is mild (hubby and I originally thought moderate to severe). Thanks for your support... I really do appreciate it. Kristi (4) (9 1/2mos) OH
Guest guest
I second that... I'm struggling with anger at my ped too, and I'd love to see the letter you send. I keep saying I'm going to do that, but I feel like I'm too mad to make the letter constructive (and I really do hope that it will serve as a wake up call so the office takes plagio more seriously. Even being given some kind of hand out with repositioning techniques would be a huge improvement on their current casual attitude toward it). I have scheduled Cole's 9 month checkup with another ped who I've heard wonderful things about. Wish I'd been using them all along... it sounds like they are much better with the plagio issue! She said that they don't take measurements unless the dr or the ins co requires it. My dr said he was moderate. Charlotte said she would take the measurements for me but I'm kinda afraid for her to take measurements for fear that I will be disappointed if the numbers don't end up perfect, even if his head will look fine. I know I'd obsess about it. Sounds crazy I know. ann/ NJ DOCband 2 weeks 2 days
Guest guest
ann, ' cranial vault measurement was 10mm, of the other two, one was 8mm and one was 6mm (I can't remember which was which since I didn't write it down) Kristi (9 1/2 mos) and (4) OH > > By the way (since I am ranting again) where was your baby on the > > measurement scale.
